How many times have you passed a caged vehicle on a bike or quad?

Adding more classes to our sport is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe SCORE should work on giving the winners, podiumers, and top fivers, and finishers better trophies too, I have AYSO trophies better than my 1st place San Felipe trophy.
NICE thread de-rail Dan! This will keep people from thinking up more classes on here! hahaa!

Just trying to bring up topics that have some importance to issues of safety and being the "prominent leader in off-road."

I think NORRA has it perfect.
It's not about how much faster you can go, it's about how much longer you can go faster.

race after race theres disputes on cars not letting cars pass or they dont hear them or look back(some even after nerfing still dont move), a bike cant nerf a car how are they gonna pass a car safely?
not saying cars passing bikes is safe but its a whole lot better than a bike passing a car

It is a big issue now with "Sportsman" class's sitting on their arss's riding, they could run the bikes on Sat. cars on Sunday and you could be back state side by dinner on Sunday for the 250 and 500. That would give them 24hrs head start at the 1000, they get caught with that kind of lead they need to pull the plug. That way you guys get to leave the line when deemed light enough and run into the rising sun like the bikes.

I absolutely agree. Racing on different days would be awesome, but realistically it would be difficult to organize essentially two races, back to back, that requires longer road closures to locals, farmers, longer window of something happening, street closures, longer course monitoring etc. etc. I think what Pat said earlier is good, let the Pro MC and ATVs go in fron the 4 wheelers and the others after.

This is the only post I read in this thread but thought I would mention to Dan and all others that may not understand this... NONE OF THE ROADS IN BAJA ARE CLOSED WHEN WE ARE RACING....... okay back to your thread
And while I'm here, Sportsman bikes, at least 60% of them, HAVE NO BUSINESS IN ANY KIND OF "RACE", ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE 4-6000lbs MACHINES CATCHING THEM

I agree the sportsman bike guys either need to step up to the pro classes or watch from the sidelines,(or start behind ALL the pro classes including cl 11) but to take it even further the bike classes (seeing that they start first) should only let the TOP pros and amatures enter to begin with..... no more of this BS where greenhorns show up from all over the world just to only be in the way, most of them are not smart enough to understand all they are are moving targets. Putting the sportsman bikes in front of the pro classes is just plain dangerous and asking for someone to be seriously injured.

I'm really risking pissing off the establishment here, but I have to disagree with Cameron.
The bikes DO belong there, not everyone has the resources, time and $$$ to devote to a full time off road professional race program, and thats why not everyone is a "pro racer". I understand that Cam is not trying to be condescending, rather he's promoting safety and human life.
HOWEVER, I do agree with Cam that that slower classes of bikes/quads should not be out straggling on the course when the lead trucks are barreling down on them...
But what really is the solution to this? The bike guys are terrified of the caged guys coming up behind them, and caged guys are often hesitant to pass bikes...why should anyones race be held up???
I wish there was a one-size-fits-all solution.
