Shortcourse UNIFICATION??...is it here??
After reading all of the stories and press releases and watching all of the great youtube videos out there surrounded around the Huseman Memorial Cup race, it got me thinking....
This could be the turning point, this could be what our sport needs, this could be one of the largest events of short course history. With car counts at an all time high (in the current series's) and a bunch of cars/trucks hidden away in the back corner of race shops, the Huseman Memorial Cup has epic potential. Not only would this be the place that would make for epic racing, but it would also be the place that everybody comes together for one common goal; keeping the Huseman legacy alive. Instead of making it a sponsor showdown, or a marketing overload, drivers could leave their boxing gloves at home and come enjoy a weekend of remembrance and the gift of giving back. Lets face it, the Venue alone (Antelope Valley) has enough memories that many of us could only hope that we could have JUST one of them back again... Herbst had a huge hauler full of trucks and campaigned all of them, Carl still ran on BFG's, RJ ran for Baldwin, there was a green flag drop from a dead STOP!, Whelchel was racing a P2, all of the Pro Lites were 4cyl, Rob Mac drove a Red Bull truck, and Kurt LeDuc had hair....
Don't get me wrong, there is going to be a ton of money on the line and all of the drivers are going to be going at it with all guns a blazing ... but lets stop and look at the big picture..
.... do you see what Rick, Jeff and Danny are doing???....
For the first time in over 4 years, everybody involved in shortcourse racing can finally come together and become one, even if it is just for one race.
maybe this is a sign of things to come in the future? one can only hope...
Thoughts?

I think its good Torc needs the Truck count that lucas has and as long as they don't play favorites to the Traxxas and Dodge trucks like their notorious for doing it will be a great race

This is the best chance to get all the regulars from both series together. I'm really excited for this race and hope we see a lot of LOORRS racers. Viva short course racing!

Well said Gunn. I think you're right about what they are doing and that's definitely how we should memorialize them... by having the biggest shortcourse event in their honor. Really looking forward to this one. By the way, Curt LeDuc also had a sweet mustache in 2007.

That was a pretty sweet stache.
So LOORRS drivers, who is planning to come and take all that purse money?

Lets try to stay positive..
This event has great potential and quite honestly it shouldn't be looked at as a "x promoter" event/race.. Bitterness and ego's will only tarnish the true value of this race/event.
If Cameron Steele (well respected professional driver) was the promoter and was to put on this race, would there still be an issue?

I guess that will depend on who has enough left in the tank after the Vegas LOORS rounds the week before?
Will any TORC racers be racing the LOORS rounds in Vegas? or leaving their stuff out here for a month and running the October LOORS round and cup race at Firbird?
I know that I would make sure my Pro-Lite was at the TORC event if they ran the same rulebook as LOORS for the engines... I miss Jeff and Rick immensely, but I have to work the Lucas Regional series event that was already scheduled for that weekend! If I wasn't already commited to an existing event, I would at least be there as a spectator.

From what I have been told, Vegas is a no go for some "torc drivers" because it's not convenient to SEMA like it was last year.
It would be awesome to see a guy like Chad Hord come and take all of the money at all cup races tho

Re: Shortcourse UNIFICATION??...is it here??
This is gotta be a step in the right direction but unification is doughtful in my eyes, there is hope with both sides choosing to not overlap dates, I love having both east and west series going on and a year end shootout between the two would be a dream come true, I hope Loorrs welcomes Torc to the westcoast and vise versa in the future. Could a true hero like Rick Huseman be the man to unify the two top series in the country???????
