No, two points of potential failure affected by welding.

Well the roof came off today without any issues.

First we made templates off the new and old roofs to transfer cut lines and have a record of the original window shape and size:

Cut lines transfered with room to grind back for fine tuning:

    All cut lines completed:

With the roof off and clear access we found a few cracks from the roll-over needing attention:

Next we'll get the new roof fitted up, but we plan to hold off splicing it in until we've repaired some of the rear engine mounts because with it off we are afforded much better access for welding.

Started fitting up the new roof today, still a ways to go. We want to sneak up on it to avoid cutting to far and having to fill gaps.

Still a bit of cutting and grinding before its perfect. We are hoepfully getting some new doors tomorrow and wanted to wait before cutting further.

We plan to do most of the roof body work before attaching it final.

Putting a new roof on a 5-1600, been there done that - one more reason to find a 1/2-1600 chassis.

Man you and Adam are really on me for that hahaha... I'm torn I really want a 1/1600 but $$$ is of course a concern, and I hate to jump ship on my current class for fear it will be another nail in the coffin for 5/16.

Look for a good used chassis - they are around; you will thanks us one day soon if you do. Remember I started in 5-1600 and think it is the best class to start out in - it is time to move on.

Update: Past week or so we've been working on little things like cleaning parts to be inspected profiling a new mid mount, and trailing arms etc. Also been running errands like getting new doors in LA, new parts etc.

With the roof fitted and the front end pretty much all done I've been focusing on getting the rear back in working order:

Old mid mount (bolts pulled right through):

Pounded rear mount back into place ready for re-welding:

Cut out all our busted hanger mount, horn supports, and upper bumper mounts:

Just about ready to start building our new mounts back to the drivetrain, and build a new rear bumper. Once the rear mounts are complete we'll getto welding the roof on. Not too many exciting pictures from the most recent repairs just lots of little jobs that need to be done.
