Beer - when all is lost and theres no chance left to you! A cooler with your favorite beer is as good as it gets! However, if for some reason you get going again, be sure to have the cooler removed before Casey sees it! He only allows drinking before or after the race. While you are at it you might pack the cooler with a couple of steaks. If you have to DNF, what better way is there to enjoy the situation?

A ratcheting tie down strap saved our ass a few times. the 1" wide ones would not leave the starting line without one

This can get you out of a pickle for sure, we have a long extra one in the pre runner but on the TT we only have the rachets that hold down the spares.

On the TT we carry 3 jacks....no 4 jacks? Telescoping air jack, floor jack, and a 10k lbs bottle jack... does this sound insane?
Limit straps to shorten the suspension if jacking the truck from the bumper is needed
    Complete tie rod
    Complete upper link
    Steering servo
    PS Pump
    2 sets of spare belts
Spare alternator is mounted in position and a switch inside activates it
Spare starter in place and ready for action
    Spare heims
Brake line caps at each corner is in place
    Spare dry brake receiver
    2 spares
    10 spare lug nuts
    Spare antenna in place
    Rocker arm assembly
    plug wires
    Misc electrical stuff

Fire supression we carry 2 10lbs supression units under the seats and can be activated by pull pin. We also have 2 5lbs extinguishers on the back of the truck in plain sight and one 2.5 extinguisher inside the cab.

We carry water, some small survival food, if hot we may carry a tarp for shade. We have a sat phone, spot tracker and a cell phone along with my asthma inhaler that i never use but still carry.

Motor oil, tranny fluid, steering fluid, brake fluid all on board.

We also carry our passports in Mexico and so should everyone else. If there is ever an emergency they require a passport to fly someone back to the States.

Sounds like a lot but it doesn't look like it

Re: What breaks the most? Spare parts that need to be carried?

    For our Class 11:

    Long and short tie rods
    fan belts
    Dist. Cap/rotor
    Coil
Fuel line with barbed fitting and clamps
    Oil Cap
    Fuel cap
    Valve cover with clip
    2 quarts of oil
    Throttle cable
    clutch cable
    lug nuts
wiring with quick splices and wire nuts for ghetto repairs
    CV assembly
    trailing arm pivot bolt
    band clamps of various sizes
    Mic for radio
Spare antenna, we seem to lose these a lot?!?
Cell phone----> Status Update: broken in the desert
    zip ties
    duct tape
    electrical tape
    ratcheting tie down
    miner style headlamp
    Tow strap

We have the attitude that we should carry as much stuff as possible for things that are common problems or are very easy fixes (less than 30 minutes in the common mode of failure).

We carry enough tools to do most repairs as well if there was a big part on the way (loaded spindle, trailing arms, steering box, shock, etc.)

The Crown got taken out for some reason, before the race. We would have definately passed it around if we had it.. lol

Some ball bearings, a Fetzer valve, some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And about ten quarts of antifreeze, preferably Prestone. No, make that Quaker State.
Just walk away. I will give you safe passage in the Wasteland. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer.----The Lord Humongous

Re: What breaks the most? Spare parts that need to be carried?

We carried a golf club and a bunch of golf balls one race, thought it would kill time if you broke. Well, unfortunatly when you break the last thing you want to do is golf. Esp if the co-dog is a golf ace, balls were gone after one round. Now we carry putty to fix the radiator and TWO gallons of water to replenish it. Actually, I think we could rebuild the entire truck with all the spares on it.
