tie rod upgrade
im looking in to replacing my tie rods with heim joints. im looking to find some info about doing so. past experiences, good set up, bad set up ect. the set up im looking to make(or replicate) would be similar to the blitzkreg tie rod upgrade for a 99-06 silverado, but still utilizing the current center link.

Re: tie rod upgrade
Post a pic up of what you have now. . .circle what you want to replace so we're all on the same page. Right now it sounds like you only want to replace the outer tie rod ends with heim joints, is this the case? or do you want to replace the entire tie rod?

Re: tie rod upgrade
Is everything stock right now or do you have aftermarket spindles/uprights and/or A-arms?

Re: tie rod upgrade
OK, so what info do you need then? You already know what you want to do, since you have a completely stock suspension system you don't have to figure out a new tie rod length or mounting locations you just need to fab up a set of tubular tie rods with heims on the ends. . .right? If you put a LH and RH heim at each end you have adjustable tie rod ends and can fine tune your set-up and adjust your toe as well. Machine two opposing flats on the tube and you can adjust the toe very easily. . .BMS even lists all the spec's of theirs if you are looking to straight up copy what they did.
. . .pretty simple and straight forward unless I'm missing something in your post.

Re: tie rod upgrade
im mainly wondering is how to attach the heim to the center link. in reference the BMS set up, the inner heim has a clevis to mount in to, should the outer heim have a clevis to mount in to as well, or can it bolt right up with misalignment spacers? should i make a inner clevis to mount to the center link, or can it bolt directly to the center link as well with MS? those are my two main questions.

Re: tie rod upgrade
I'm no pro, but my personal thoughts are it depends on what your intents with the rig are. . .if it's a race vehicle you should always go with double shear. If it's just a play rig you can go with a properly executed single shear. . .not my personal preference, but sometimes you just have to deal with it. I try to avoid single shear as much as possible, but there are times when I choose not to go through the work required for a double shear set-up, but when I choose to do so it is never in a competition rig or when safety would be unduly compromised. . .it's a judgement call. . .you just have to do the best you can.
I don't know how much that helps, but I hope it helps some. . .I'm not familiar with your stock set-up so I don't know what you are dealing with to begin with which is why I suggested you post up pictures of what you are starting with.
Once again, I hope this helps in some small way.

I have no clue how your steering setup is but if BMS is using a clevis I would assume you would need a clevis as well. Most non race applications that don't want to do a lot of work to make it double sheer keep it single sheer. You are probably going to have to drill out the ball joint hole to the size of the heim which is probably around 1/2", then you just bolt it on with a single bolt through the misalignment spacers and heim.
EDIT: you don't have to drill the spindles out, that's a ranger thing and I was just going off personal experience. The Description said it came with adapter pins so no drilling of the spindle required. You can probably get the adapter pins and inner clevises from BMS so you know for sure they will work and build the rest

Why not just buy the BMS kit instead of copying it? If I were BMS I would not sell the clevis or the taper adapter separate since it will then look like their kit but the fab or heims used may not be up to par.
