Offroad racing in Nellis Dunes to be eliminated?
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012...-springs-land/
Part of the legislation s3346 http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CREC-20...675.pdf#page=5 seems to be to eliminate most of the Nellis dunes area. This is the area south of Pabco Rd as best as I can tell. May be worth contacting your US representatives, both senate and house and asking for clarification on section 12 of the bill. I don't know much about the other sections, but section 12 seems to be a huge land grab, "IN THE PUBLICS INTEREST".
Now I could be wrong about the intent, but I could be right. The bill is hard to make heads or tails of, and when that happens, lookout for the worst. Having all the provisions lumped together under one perhaps well thought out section, that being protecting the fossil area also rqaises my concern.
Heres a link to the only study I could find about the nellis dunes plan. It's a total joke, taking away over 10,000 acres of riding and leaving maybe 1000. Wow, 1000 whole acres. Sorry, that doesn't excite me. http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/Depts/c...esentation.pdf

In most states they wait a couple of years to shut down riding areas after they start an "off road sticker fee" you guys are going straight to the throat after a sticker fee gawd i'm glad to be out of the smoking section of california [las vegas] BTW are they going to make all offroad rides including TTs get this sticker? hell that would be funny pulling through contigency having a BLM/state trooper make sure you sticker is properly placed on both sides of the driver on top of your major sponsor logo.

In CA, BLM requires Green stickers for residents, non-residents must obtain a permit*, to take a OHV off of private property.
Those in violation of the law face confiscation and impoundment of their OHV's.
It's been that way for several years.
CHP started checking dirt bikes on trucks in the 70's...
*Originally, non-resident OHV's were not required to obtain a permit if the OHV was in compliance with its home state rules, but that went away.
Hey! You kids!! Get OFF my driveway!!! If you can't go away happy, just go away!

This is just reason why I left the Vegas valley for the woods of north Idaho. We have orv tags but can still ride a NON PLATED dirt bike up a state 2 lane HWY to buy fuel. Then head to the single track and ride back home. The state patrol only asks that we stay between the fog line and shoulder and ride under the posted speed limit.

On another note...the most of the area used during the former SNORE Mint 400 isn't even within the OHV area anyway and is accessed through a BLM special use permit, as I understand. I was told by SNORE, they are considering utilizing that land next year for a race on the old SNORE 250 course...been a number of years since some of that area has been used...
