Re: Chuck Strange.....
I walked into the living room this morning and my wife says, "Do you know who Chuck Strange is?" Bummer.
I met chuck at Inland Prerunner / R.O.R. events many moons ago and will never forget him. Chuck was desert racing. Just as much as any of the rock stars we all love.
Rest in peace, brother.
I know a little German... he's sitting over there.

Re: Chuck Strange.....
I have to say Chuck was one of a kind. The first time I met him, he was actually stuck in the
dezert and needed a jump start, and I obliged by getting him moving via jump. at the
time, This was at the first CORDR desert clean up in Barstow 2001 i think
I really was intrigued by this guy, I have a copy of Hot VWs somewhere, back in the
80s, he was doing jump stunts with an old Funco if I recall. So he was no newbie to this sport
by a long shot
My now wife Ann was once his spouse, so we were called late last night and notified
by Riverside county
RIP Chuck strange, if you were not yanking out a dead race car, at least you were turning heads and
making people double take on that Rolls, Anybody who was ever standing next to me
would always say "Did you see that?"

Re: Chuck Strange.....
Chuck and I go back a long ways,He was my friend and I will surely miss him diging through my scrap metal pile looking for anything to use in some silly off the wall project he dreamed up. He found the Rolls Royce at my swap meet and called me after to see if I knew who had it for sale and I gave him Johns number at Ajax in Indio and the rest is history. My best Strange story was when I hired Chuck and limo for a Valintines trip to the comedy store in LA. I know ,I was brave. He shows up on time and wearing his tuxedo tshirt and I have to give him gas money. He ask how many people and I say 6 and 1 more, I come around the corner with a live squirrel in a trap and ask him to open the trunk!!! The look on his face from a guy who has done it all Strange his whole life was pricless. On the road headed to the EMERALD CITY with Dust to Glory playing,Dynomax muffler howling and BFG'S rumbling down the 91.We arrive on Sunset at the Comedy Store and there is a line around the block, limo at the curb we make our grand entrance and I have Chuck open the trunk and I take the cage out and put the squirrel on the sidewalk and tell the startled crowd,Doen't worry he is part of the act! I SEND CHUCK AND THE CAGED WILD ANIMAL AWAY TO WAIT FOR MY CALL AT MIDNITE TO COME BACK TO PICK US UP.3 hours,do you think he would put gas in for the return trip?I call him and tell him our next stop was a special dinner for my guest and Kimmey my Valintine. When he pulls up to the curb we are talking to Pauley Shore and all the comics from the show and I take the cage out of the trunk and send the country squirrel to meet his Beverlly Hills city cousins,up the driveway of the Hyatt next door, people running, screaming, film crews scramble and we are off in the limmo,Chuck would have burned rubber but the limo has 223,000 miles and can only roll away at checker cab pace.Chuck has only gone 3 miles and we are litup by Hollywood's finest,I am sure it is for the wild animal release. When the cop's walk up to Chuck one on each side we learn that the tags are expired!!! He puts down the back window, like the intoxicated pasangers could help the DMV problem!! And at this time like so many in Chucks life a light from above shines down on him and the cops get a call that there was a SHOOTING 1 block away and tell us to get out of the city!!!! Pinks hot dog stand was our (special dinner) on the way home and 2 motorcycle cops were working that corner so Chuck had to hide the limo while we ate with his people at 3 in the morning, ladies of the nite, pimps, gang bangers, bikers and Bad ass offroad racers. He never got gas so on the way home we had to stop and get gas and I asked him to please hurry so we could get home before the sun came up because unlike him we sleep at night. We all got home safe and sound thanks to Chuck Strange a guy who was not afraid to jump buggies or trucks ramp to ramp before King shocks and Hans devices,so go party with Evil Knivel and all the other thrill seakers you earned it,my FRIEND!!! So I say goodby to a truck jumping, driving on 2 wheels, wheele car spinning,Squirrel hauling, purple ROLLS ROYCE towing hero of mine.Curt Leduc
