It has been 7 years when I did.
All I had to do is get it weighed and then get an inspection from a certified car inspector, which I just went to AAA that has them and then registered it to me right after there.
Now it might need the visual (bogus) smog certificate also?

I'd make sure it has ALL the original emissions stuff on it otherwise you could end up spending a ton of cash getting the stuff CA requires to register it. A lot of owners in other states don't have emissions testing so they remove the equipment for better performance and fuel mileage.

Good point Chris, I bought a stock one and was good to go (limiter at 98 mph), picked it up in GA and drove to CA in 25 hours
coast to coast and had 3 state police pass me lmao...

You can register it in Az with a friend or family members address and Az insurance. Just got my 2013 tag mailed to my Ca. house, been about 12 years now no problems.

^^^I believe you have just provided evidence of your defrauding of the DMV, CARB, SCAQD, and the rest of the State of California.
Does it help to improve the image of off road racing and/or rdc when you advocate criminality?
Does it help to improve YOUR image when you admit to criminality on an open forum?

Didn't you do the same thing in another thread when you advised people to lie about their religion?
The post I'm sure you saw, but didn't comment on because you knew it made you look foolish?

WAFJ. You f**king hypocrite.
Real advice: Look at the steekers under hood. it will either say "50 state smog" (or something to that effect, which means it's OK for CA) or it will not. I think somone else advised that if it ain't CA ready, don't even bother trying. I'd second that as well. Good luck

The AZ tags are fine unless you get stopped by a CHP that wants to give you a hard time. If you have a CA license and AZ tags they could give you grief over it. I have never heard of it with personal vehicles but it's pretty common in comercial vehicles. One of my customers registered all of their vehicles out of state to another of their locations. They saved a fortune but ended up giving it back in fines when they got caught.
AZ requires you live there more than 50% of the year to get a license but you can get an AZ ID card if you have a vacation home there. It might be legit to register your vehicle to your vacation home, have an AZ ID with the same address and if you get stopped driving your truck that is normally left in AZ and therefore registered to your AZ house, I don't see how that would be a citation.
Evading tax is illegal, Avoiding tax is American. We used to take delivery of our big rigs out of state to avoid paying sales tax. It was 100% legal and there was a small industry based just on moving vehicles from dealers in CA to NV or AZ to deliver them and a notary would meet you there to certify the transaction. I haven't bought a truck in years so I don't know if this is still done.

You could always find some one who lives in Imperial Valley where they don't smog, all my brothers and sons vehicles are registered out there at his house, and it is also cheaper....
