Re: Bob Pattison asks lucas racers to not race the Rick Huseman cup, video
Wheatland would be the ideal place to meet and have the best of the best race each other. Maybe Kevin M. and Bob P. can have a drag boat race and the winner gets to host the next year's east v. west showdown.

just an observation, but every one continuing the flame on process is on the east side of the rockies... why isnt anyone from the west coast posting opinions?
When a man knows how to live dangerously, he is not afraid to die. When he is not afraid to die, he is, strangely, free to live.
With that mentality though, I guess we could also make 2 TT classes for those guys that just can't keep up with the faster TTs. Oh wait.... This is racing. - Dan Vance

Wow!
IMO--- if you sit in Bob and Forests and Toney’s chair I can understand how they must feel. If you add up everything they have done for this sport they see the value and have the same and vision and commitment we all have --and they have been backing us big time for 20years from the mid west to the west coast so can you blame them for feeling like they do?
We all know the car-truck counts have never been great in TORC and while the TV documentary shows looked good for the general public it doesn’t hold a candle to what the Lucas production company has been putting together. And the national coverage is a must to take this sport to the top like they are doing.
I would say at this point in time for there to be just one series. Call it like it is people LOORRS is it. I think the guys at TORC have been struggling for some time now. And at this point it’s only hurting our sport. I feel that if USAC-TORC truly wants to see their effort not be wasted they should let it go and be just a promotion company like speedway incorporated is to nascar.
IMO the guys at LOORRS are ready and able to captain this ship to the next level. East & west its the right thing to do.
How do you like me now?

Re: Bob Pattison asks lucas racers to not race the Rick Huseman cup, video
I am still trying to digest everything. OK...I just got the taste of B.S. out of my mouth. This sounds like a dictatorship on Bob Patisons behalf. Is it me or does it sound like, "If you run another series you will not be thought of very well" (blackmail). I wasnt real happy about using Nick Tyree as an example either. Nick isnt under contract with Lucas Oil and if he chooses to run in a series that thanks you for showing up(even if your name isnt Carl,Rob, Brian or Kyle) more power to him. It shouldnt make a differnce if I race TORC on an off weekend or ride a tricycle up Pikes Peak. Its my choice and I will race wherever I get treated the best. At the Elsinore race we were so far out in the field we had parachuters drop in for a cold one. We asked to get a damn trash can and we could never get one. Are you serious? We cant even get a trash can! Bob Patison offered Scott Douglas free entry and guarentted Scott one interveiw per race. What about the small self funded race teams? We could use a free entry or a little air time to may be pick up a money sponsor. Thanks for the memories MR.PATISON! Peace out. Oh and by the way I AM on the west coast.......

very good point. maybe the WC guys are keeping quiet and letting their actions speak.....
now with so many PROs @ Glen Helen (east, midwest, and west) testing RGs new deal....what do you think the conversation under the awning is about?
its amazing how off-road racers from the two short-course series are coming together to see the possibility of racing in a third series. RG's deal has the potential to take corporate dollars away from TORC and LOORS. It should also be a part of the short-course $$$ / driver equation conversation.
.....
What Midwest short course racing has are two entities, Crandon and Bark River, that are unlike any other short-course facility in the nation. What makes them unique is that they are a major economic force in their community. If off-road racing disappeared from these communities it would have a serious affect on businesses in the area.
Unlike creating a facility at an existing motorsports venue (Speedworld, Firebird, or places like Perris, Oshkosh, Charlotte, LVMS) if there's no offroad racing, life goes on. The track owner finds another way to fill the dates or builds a shopping center.
The Crandon and Bark River communities eat, sleep, and drink off-road racing. As result they economically depend on the racing. Crandon and Bark River don't operate on 3-year contacts. They operate on lifetime, or more correctly, multi-generational contracts.
just my two cents worth.... saw my first off-road race in 1969 @ Miller Beach in the dunes of Indiana. First race @ Crandon-1973. First desert race Mint 400-1977. First short course win Lake Geneva - 1979. Last time in a short-course race Oshkosh 2011.
First Short Course Press Release written - Scott Taylor 2000.
Addicted ever since.
not just a keyboard racer.....

Re: Bob Pattison asks lucas racers to not race the Rick Huseman cup, video
does Lucas Production stream LIVE footage at every race?
didn't think so.
this Bob guy has a lot of people brainwashed.
He's trying to come across as a martyr, but the truth is they don't want to give up their market share.
so ultimately it's all based on greed.
Sure they have invested "over 20 million" into off road racing, why......because it generates a return.
I understand Lucas Oil concern, but IMO, it was not handled properly, and in turn made Bob and Lucas Oil look like chumps.
bad business ethic.
"poachers" really?
what a joke.
TORC is struggling? - the series is sponsored by RAM, RED BULL, etc..... i'm sure they don't invest in "struggling" ventures.

Re: Bob Pattison asks lucas racers to not race the Rick Huseman cup, video
IMO TORC could remove the Huseman name from the race and it would still be just as big. If any series offers a free race with a massive pay out and $$$ just to show up, racers will show up. I don’t think it’s fair to ask racers not to race it. Divide and concur isn’t the right answer. Regardless of what underlining agendas there might be dividing racers isn’t right. It’s like asking family to chouse between family. At the end of the day if LOORRS and TORC are both gone there will still be the racers and their equipment plus the fans that want to see them. Short course racing would move on because it’s freaking so bad ace. I truly believe that both TORC and LOORRS want the same thing, be the series to make short course racing go main stream and reap the NASCAR like benefits that would come along with it. I would like to see LOORRS respond with an even bigger and better race that pulls in all the TORC drivers. Don’t ask your drivers to not race TORC do something that makes TORC drivers want to race LOORRS.
