He criticizes TORC, accusing them of having ulterior motives for the Huseman race. He criticizes TORC for what he considers an emotional appeal for racers, but starts his speech with an emotional appeal for all Lucas Oil has done for the sport. On one hand, he has some good points. But they did leave the midwest hanging out to dry a few years ago when a better business opportunity came along with purchasing Tony Vanillo's series. He wants all - Lucas is applauded for all their good deeds yet forgiven for those not so great. Lucas is given credit for all that helps anyone but assumption of the best intentions for anything hurtful.

They wanted notice of the Huseman race yet he admits he has hadf no intention of working with TORC for a while.

And he asks Mike Jenkins and USAC to basically hand their series, racers, and track over to Lucas Oil and they decline. And this is somehow evidence that they can't be reasoned with?

When Lucas scheduled over Labor Day Crandon, I said it was unfortunate for the racers and fans but couldn't object as a business decision if Lucas decided this is what they needed to do. Like everyone else, I hope for a single, national series. But don't try to convince of your pure, guileless, virginal intentions. This is a business and you're using every tool available, including dishonest melodramatic appeals.

i wish i was in the meetings when this idea was brought from concept to reality.... the reason given was to put it in Huseman's back yard. It also makes it very easy to get huge fields. (most of) the TORC racers will come to get their points race in and the Lucas racers are local making it easy for them to come out for a single large payout event. while i probably won't attend because of location it makes sense to me and it certainly isn't "poaching." its a shame the sport we all love won't ever really succeed because of this squabbling. i thought we were finally getting somewhere last winter then LOORRS scheduled Reno on top of Crandon.... I still think this race has great potential to help create peaceful co-existence between the 2 series but this reaction from Bob is counter productive... time will tell on the outcome but i don't see TORC moving the venue. personally i don't want one series but i do want peaceful co-existance; Similar class rules, no overlapping schedules, and an east meets west race once a year. this is the first opportunity; TORC brought it to cali, maybe next year Lucas can bring it to the midwest.....
