I'm sure you have better advice than that Ramsey

Youv'e been at this desert racing thing a long time from what I gather reading your other posts on this site
To answer your question Baja Dixon, I have run BFG tires on Buggies for over 15 years. Class 1 Class 10 and Class 5. That being said they have been a very good tire company to deal with over the years. They have a great tire and very good pit support in Baja and longer races in the U.S. like Vegas To Reno ect.
The contact I have used to get on the racer program is JD Motorsports. They can get you setup on the racer program and good pricing.

I hope this helps a little. I have never raced a TT so don't have much input for tire sizes or types of tires for different courses. Probably have to go somewhere with more mature people than RDC for that info I guess

I'll agree with Your statement "Sounds like he is asking an honest question." If this was a question for a limited class or from novice Driver Or Co-Rider just starting out in said class. BUT, this is Trophy Trucks/6500lbs death machines in the wrong hands. The Question SCREAMS!! I'm Not Ready & Watch out Rider may bail at anytime and take You, Me and a whole lot of spectators with Him.
Life is hard My Brother & Death is Final.

So the class 8 he currently races isnt a 6500lb death machine? He asked for opinions on tires not your approval to race.

La Granja Escuderia
Re: Tire Questions
everybody will be his opinion, but take your time if you can test diferent tires, all we can share a lot of input about tires, air pressures etc, stick with what we work with your driving style and try to improve after that.
for us we take like maybe 500 miles of testing before our first class 1 race, why, because we want to get used about the speed and how the car works and tune them to the driver style.
we use BFGs projects groved 37s Kr in the front and KRT's on the rear, and we like very much how cars work
and yeah, race smaller events to test and see how things going on your team will be a good thing to do before a big Baja or BITD race.
carry on !!
Onwards Ever, Backwards Never....If In Doubt...... Flat Out.

If you mean " do I have a lot to learn " when you say "over your head" -the answer is yes. I have a lot to learn. The good news is I'm a quick learner and feel secure enough in myself to ask questions in order to get a broad array of opinions. I never thought or expected it would be easy. If all of this would have been easy I probably would not have been drawn to it. It is an incredible amount of fun though. Also, most of the people I meet in this sport are really great guys. ( Haven't met any girls yet that race, but I hope to

)
good luck @ the 1000...

Re: Tire Questions
Baja Dixon,I would call Jerry or any reputable truck builder with your questions. You obviously arent going to get much help here.
Good luck with your truck and have fun and be safe in Baja.
