IPOD Control with no head unit- Kenwood KOS-A300 $50

I have been looking for a better way to control my IPOD while driving. It is hooked directly up to my PCI intercomm, and I keep the IPOD in a case in my center console to keep it out of harms way. I was originally using the RacerX setup, but I was getting a lot of alternator whine and after playing around with it I realized that I really don't need the extra amp that it comes with. So, right now I just have the IPOD connected directly to the intercomm using this cable, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...y-Adapter.html, and this volume knob http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amp.../dp/B0002J226O to control the volume. This works well and keeps the IPOD charged, but I end up just putting it on random- if I want to change songs or anything I have to dig the IPOD out, which is pretty much impossible while driving.

So, I have been searching online for something that I can mount on my dash and will allow me to control the IPOD remotely, and I ran across this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KOSA...em.html?tp=120. It was originally $250 but they are discontinued, so Crutchfield is selling them for $50 with free shipping. Not only does it have a remote control knob that will control the IPOD, it has a remote display face that can be surface or panel mounted as well, and it will charge the IPOD through the IPOD cable. It can also be used with any other USB storage device, HD Radio, Satallite radio, Bluetooth, etc.

I just thought that I would share......

The problem with every other remote I have found is they plug into the ipod's bottom connector, so you cant plug the ipod into anything else. I need to have mine plugged in to charge, etc.

Right now I am just using this cable, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...abilities.html, and this volume knob http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amp.../dp/B0002J226O to control the volume. The first cable both charges the ipod and adapts it to an RCA plug, which connects to the volume knob. From the volume knob it connects to my PCI intercomm- PCI has an adapter with RCA plugs on one side and the other end plugs into the intercomm. From there just the standard headset cables to my headsets (or a helmet).

Here is the PCI adapter: http://www.pciraceradios.com/Product...01304688313089

Don't most remotes charge the ipod too?

It works for him cause he is using his intercom.
might be good if you could find a way to send the signal to an amp or two
