might be good if you could find a way to send the signal to an amp or two
Correct- the Kenwood has low level (RCA cable) outputs, which can then be connected to a head unit (although if you were doing that it would be easier to just use a head unit that is ipod ready) or directly to an amp if you need to power speakers. In my case I do not need an amp because I am only using my intercomm, not speakers, and the ipod has enough power for that.

That looks like a very nice head unit, better ipod control than most of the automotive ones and I love that the ipod stores inside the unit. I don't have any room in my dash for that in my prerunner, but maybe in another vehicle. It looks $$$$ though....

i been looking at that kenwood unit for a year or so now. only thing i was wondering is how you control the volume if you sent the rca to an amp.

As far as I can tell (I don't have mine hooked up yet) the Kenwood has no volume control function. So, you can just use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amp.../dp/B0002J226O It is just RCA in/out, so just put it inline between the Kenwood and the amp. $13 and you are done, although it is too bad you have to have another knob on your dash. I wish the Kenwood had volume control......

yeah one of the reasons i havent pulled the trigger yet, no volume control. but at 50 bucks its not a bad unit . crutchfield keeps dropping the price of that unit ,was on clearance at 100$ about a year ago, then 74$. i wonder how many they have and if they are going to price drop again
