Re: New score super 8 class

To verify as I'm in a discussion (no more, just brainstorming) with somebody about this class
Been reading this up and down here:

    http://www.score-international.com/technotes.aspx

This engine rule is NOT limited to GM and Ford products, limitations are

Must use a stock as delivered from the manufacture V-8 engine.
Engine must be 2008 or later year model.
Maximum displacement is 376 cubic inches.
All parts must remain stock as delivered from the manufacture.

and a Turbo 400 on it

So theoretical a MB M119 6.0 L (370 cu in) V8 should be ok as well

"Must use a stock production ecu" means it could be tuned within it's reach as long as no
    other parts/software is added???

The way the rules read you are correct. This is why yes the BITD rules SOUND more expensive but in the long run wont be. And the SCORE rules will allow people to open up engines and POSSIBLY cheat. Also in BITD the stock ECU can easily be checked by Turnkey at the races. I also like the idea of pump gas but either way in BITD the stock ECU is mapped for pump gas so in theory race gas would be a waste of time and money. In SCORE it sounds like you can get away with a ton of stuff that will make the engines way $$$ if you want a big advantage.

We are building our truck right now with a weight of 3900 lbs. If it is not needed to Finnish a race its not on the truck. Under 4000 lbs can be done but not with 2" 120 tubing. Our truck is 1 3//4 120.

In our truck the weight increase from changing all required tubes (and only required tubes) to 2" only added 52 lbs to the chassis. It was much less weight than most people think.

Pete can you open up an engine before it is tagged in SCORE? Can you rebuild a junk yard engine and then have SCORE tag it? Who is at the finish line at a SCORE race to check the ECU?

    Thats what I thought.

And there you go again with insults....

And NO I do not hate SCORE. I just do not like the bogus inspections and the way they do certain things.

I worked with Savage getting this class going in SCORE just like I did in BITD. It would have been good for the sport if Savage would have just gone with the same rules as BITD. But he went his way so he makes the $300 fee.

I agree. I would rather have a chassis made way stronger and with way more longevity and gain a few pounds and save the weight in other areas. Also will allow a truck to be able to be upgraded to run in the TT class down the line.

Re: New score super 8 class

I just do not understand the need for a new class. I do not understand the desire for a class with a stock engine that needs to be sealed, with or without a technical inspection. I do not understand why anyone would want to struggle through a desert race in an underpowered TRUCK. Hell, its hard enough as it is, with an engine that will allow a truck to get out of its own way. Why build new trucks to technical rules, when one could just build a "regular" class 8 ? I think that simple basic rules, that have been around since the begining of our Sport, is the easier way to go.
