It spends most of the race between 6000 and 7000rpm. But you wouldn't want one since according to a lot of the posters on here it won't make it one race.
PLease list the parts used in this engine that can build more more power and trq for lets say the high end of your price at $4500.

Re: New score super 8 class
Horsepower costs money in build and prep costs.
This class will be huge for the simple fact that it strikes a good balance between horsepower and parts longevity.
A 600 hp truck class will cost a lot more in initial build cost and prep cost.
A well put together 6100/S-8 truck with quality parts should be very reasonable to prep, maintain and operate.
I also know of two racers that are building trucks that have never raced offroad. New racers will keep desert racing growing and bolster entries.

Why wouldnt this statement also be true, for a "traditional" class 8 ?

Re: New score super 8 class
Turnkey has sold 6 engines and more to come for this class. Spec is the best way to go I think because a engine should last a couple years.

The simple fact is racers don't want to deal with frame rails or else Class 8 would be huge.

Why wouldn't class 7 be in this statement?
Oohhhhhhhh yea, because this thread is about the new class. That is what everyone is talking about in this thread. NOT class 8 (even though class 8 is a very cool class).

Scat moly I beam rods... 300.00
SpeedPro Forged Pistons 600.00
Jesel beltdrive used w new belt 500.00

Ebay Victor Jr head castings with all the goodies but different springs and full Del West stainless valve train w/tool steel retainers and Ti locks. 2500.00
Some rockers 400.00
E-bay Victor Jr manifold 150.00

But these rules will allow a $10,000.00 rear axle and a 10,000.00 Trans. So I guess it really don't matter.

Comparing a home-built iron block caurberated engine to an all aluminum fuel injected and dyno tested engine is laughable. Apples and Oranges.

So you have $7500 and no labor? How much is labor for someone to handle all the above and insure it is done to a high standard? $2000-$3000? And a junk yard carb with mods at C&J is about $800 and some of the other parts needed to build are not in your list... Oil pump, hardware, bearings, among a bunch of other stuff... So add another $1500 to your list. This is well over $10,000... And still not an aluminum block EFI engine. I would take the LS3 all day long over a pieced together buddy built engine. Remember when you need a rebuild you can buy a LS3 engine for $6300 shipped to your door! It is the wire harness and gas pedal you also need that will add $1200.
