considering 1600-5-1600 and class 11 races have been won and lost from less than 10 seconds figure iit out.. back markers will take all day to get by some one with no chance at all of ever winning, they have all the patience and can waite for some one to decide to get over when they feel like it. I have zero problem moving someone along with a stout smack and have won because of it. Had I cruzed along waiting I would have lost several times. A stout smack does not mean destroying someones car but a lite tap only invites a rabbit situation. I punted a 9 car with my class 11, but good, and won by 3 seconds had I followed him...
37th year and still love it!!

2 sides to the story. I believe Brandon or his co-driver should have been more aware of how close Sam was. As for Sam, dude, that was a vicious hit, to move a 5000-6000 lb truck. I get it tho, trucks kick up so much dust and OFTEN don't feel they should pull over. Very FRUSTRATING. However, everyone knows this kid is not old enough for prom so cut him some slack. This is HDRA not BITD, he's gonna learn.

To me seems Sam was impatient considering this race is how many hours long even for a Class 1?
If you are racing and pulling over everytime you first spot a car which is so far behind you that you still don't hear him after stopping for 5 seconds you are not going to win many races...
How many times do the races come down to seconds? I wouldn't chance it. IT'S A RACE!

I don't disagree, my point was if you hit someone hard enough to break your own car what's the point?

Should have moved over much much faster, 5 minutes faster! For Sam, chasing a sportsman truck for 5 minutes must have felt like a life time. How frustrating for Sam Berri! .... I thought the nerfs were great, bet he moves faster next time there's a 1 car behind him!!! It's easy to say on the copmputer but you won't find many other drivers that will have the patience that Sam had in this video, while leading a race! Point, Sam. JMO

Correction:
4:55 Co-driver waves thank you to the buggy that pulled over to let 1456 get by 7 seconds before Sam nerfs 1456.
Co-driver never waves to Sam before the nerf.

I don't agree with Sam on this one Pete ... it's all a difference of opinion ... but I was racing this race and the video is deceiving on what the sides were like.
I think the co-dawg sould have been more vocal on where Sam was, but Brandon was focusing on driving thru a technical section ... not watching mirrors.
Maybe Sam could have hit horn when pulled up for those 5 stopped seconds? How would they know that was the overall leader?
Due to the bottleneck hill and Brandon getting thru before they closed it, he along with us had passed a lot of class 1 cars. If I were looking back and saw a one car, I'd say just that " hey there's a one car back there" not ID it thru the dust.
But it's easier to judge because I was out on the course with them instead of trying to diagnose it here from a keyboard or from a video.
But you do have it correct, a lot of these posters have no clue as to what really happens out there, you can tell from what their opinions are.
