Two people know for sure, Brandon and Sam. Easy to see and hear how steep the hill is after and expecting a racer to pull over on a steep hill and either get stuck or create a new bottleneck doesn't make much sense given Sam's experience. Now if Sam was on their butt when they stopped for a moment, then codawg screwed up, but once started up the hill, it made sense to go to the top. As you all heard, when they did try to pull over on the hill, Sam got stuck trying to get around, so they kept going to the top.
If the siren by the stuck cars was Brandon's then Sam only sounded off to them once before the hard hit?
Bottom line is this whole thing is way overblown, Kid's codawg will be way more alert in the future and Sam might be more patient on a course like that. Props to HRT for posting the vid and a shame that Sam doesn't have one to back his play. Put this baby to bed!
Once he got hit the second time he found a place to pull over right away, didn't he? and, After they got past the stuck car another car pulled over for them, so yes, though you can't see from the video places to pull over, there were places to pull over. If Sam, or any other faster car, comes up behind me, I wave my arm off so they know I know they are there and the first place I see that we can get 2 cars thru I'm out of there way. And yes, as a driver I wave to the car so they know the driver knows! The same goes for passing, if I catch a car and they wave, game off, but when they jack-rabbit or pass oportunities to move over, it's game back on.

I think it has moved beyond Brandon and Sam and turned into another when is nerfing excessive and when is it justified thread. If you are fast run lights during the day. If they don't see lights in their mirrors they are not paying attention and deserve to get punted. Lights are much more efective that horns if you chose not to use them don't be too shocked when a guy running wide open exhaust and a helmet doesn't hear your horn or see you in his dust trail.

Re: 149 SAM BERRI vs 1456 Brandon "AMATEUR HOUR" Aurther
Just my .02... To me they are both at fault and both drivers could do a better job. As a co driver myself, Once you know you have a faster car coming. You need to be telling your driver to start finding a spot to pull over. Once I see a faster car coming, If I know he is coming fast. I tell the driver he is on his own for the navigation so I can really pay attention to know when we need to make room. Yes Lights on front of faster cars work great.. Never hear horns. the right mirror is just another guage that I have to look at all the time.

i don't know..quite a few people have dismissed this as a wasted thread that doesn't belong on a forum..maybe it is, but i've enjoyed the opinions of all the people who weren't there along with the folks a little closer to the event. and i think that having commentary from a lot of the heavier hitters in the sport like cameron steele, dan mcmillan, host roger norman, and even pistol pete was a cool deal..the only missing component was how the principals felt about the whole thing. for me, i've sort of enjoyed reading through the thing. not too much else shakin' this time of year

I Watched the Video............Whats all the Hubbub Bub?
It sounds like the Driver of 1456 need to thank Strawberry for the Engine tune-up. Sam bumped the kid & Presto an extra 2500 RPMs. Go figure.
I will vouch For Pete, He does move over When bumped.

"no place to pull off for about 100 yards"?
A buggy starts up the hill right before 1456 and pulls over (4:55) on the hill to let 1456 go by.
Co-driver gives the buggy a thank you wave.
If 1456 did the same for 149 there would not have been any nerfing.
