Who is racing Vegas to Reno? Is it worth the expense and the heat?

Just curious to see who is planning on racing? I have not decided whether I will run my Trophylite. Is the race worth the expense and the heat? We are sitting 6th in points out of 18-20 trucks. Is it worth the trip?

I am not a BITD racer points but looking at their point schedule V2R awards the highest start and finish points as well double position points that race. Could be a huge difference at the year end. Please confirm my post!

Although we won't be racing it, it's a great race put on by Casey and BITD. Traditionally the course is dusty, with a lot of silt, but very fun to say the least!

    I would absolutely race.

As for the heat, hotels in Vegas have pools and it gets cooler as you climb altitude into Reno. Good luck with your decision!

Brandon if you race and need another driver let me know. The heat is only bad in Vegas and for the crew. I have done it 08 and 09 on a bike, never really noticed the heat.

Also remember the ac only works when race cars are moving forward, and the heater comes on when the race car stops moving......... so just don't stop moving and you will be fine lol.

I am racing it! Like someone said above, you really don't notice the heat when you are moving and if your pumper is working. Fairly easy to chase with two trucks and only one crazy pit (Rawhide).

As for a long point to point race this is the most affordable option. The logistics are incredibly easy compared to doing a race in Baja and the overall cost is considerably cheaper. LOTS of silt, be prepared to get stuck bad (of course then you won't get stuck) and plan to change your air filters a lot! The only downside is no pre running. This makes the race much cheaper but also much more dangerous. You need to drive what you can see, sounds easy but once the heat of battle kicks in guys start taking chances and the desert always wins!

Re: Who is racing Vegas to Reno? Is it worth the expense and the heat?

Thank you guys for the input. I have done the 1000 to La Paz and it was a blast but very expensive. I am planning on racing this years Baja 1000 as well. I have not done V2R yet so I appreciate everybodys input. Now would 2 drivers or 3 drivers be more competitive? Basically would it be better to keep fresh drivers in or just stay in the car. Also I appreciate the info on silt fortunately the Trophylites do very well in silt. But now I am aware that I should pack a few extra filters. I installed a secondary pumper so the driver and co-dawg no longer spare one. Thanks again.
