Would a plan have been in place already to handle the potential bottleneck at 36.1, so the 16 wouldn't have gotten the bad break they did? Maybe, maybe not?
Given a new race course and a new race series there are going to be a lot of growing pains, but let's not let this taint HDRA. On the other hand, based on the comments of both respected racers and Pistola...haha! and now that Roger and Robert have had a couple days to wind down, I hope they can rethink this fastest lap bonus ruling and split it between Pab and Mitchell. Won't be the first time a hastily made ruling has been reversed and if they do, I'll have something to say about anybody that gives them grief for it! Great working with HDRA on this race and even tho I had a rough weekend, I hope to be in Primm helping out again.
Great post. I know these guys busted their butts to put a race on. nobody is questioning that. Course was tough. Tougher than Roger thought it would be.
I really hope they step back and review their decisions. On race weekend and the ones here on RDC. The decisions they make now will affect the future of HDRA. Thanks again Roger and HDRA. We had a fun weekend regardless of the cards that we were dealt.

Why would cam spend 2 hours and 20 thousand dollars swapping out a trans for a race that he's not in the points for especially when he has an actual points race coming up at V2R? Just because he has a trophy truck and is good at what he does does not mean that he can carelessly throw around unjustified expenses. Cameron and everyone on the team has and does work very hard for what they have and have accomplished. None of them were born with any type of metallic spoon in their mouth so why don't you go out work as hard as them and accomplish what they have before you start telling them how to spend their time and money.

Re: MIKE MITCHEL WINS $ 21,625.00 at el dorado fireworks 500 in reno
I have been an HDRA Contingency sponsor since its inaugural race.
I have also been a course worker and retrieval guy at every race except this one. I am on course 30 minutes before the first car leaves the line and my day doesnt end until the course is swept. The only reason I wasnt doing retrieval this time was because we werent able to have our retrieval vehicle there last weekend and I dont think the SDHQ freightliner would have done well out on that course. (It would been nice to have a bathroom/kitchen/ and tv out there though).
I am also a Desert Assassin.
While I cant say I am happy about the call on this one, my opinion of HDRA, Roger, Robert, Stephen and the entire staff at HDRA has not changed. I truly appreciate their efforts and what they are doing for the sport and I will continue to support them.

Fast Aid is awesome
The DA likes to support Rancho Santa Marta with donations and we like to support RFC and Steve Hanson specifically.
Just so we are clear, I/we support Roger, Robert, HDRA and anyone trying to further our sport. I do think it's sort of silly that HDRA is drawing a strong line on something so not clear prior to the race, but I'm going to Baja and am not worried!

Have fun at BBB4...you deserve it. Kudos for what Morto, JC and the DA do for all the 2 wheeled Baja bros.

Some said 10K first overall (easy), some said 2k to fastest qualifier (easy) and so on and so on. But when it was established that 2K would go to the fastest lap, it was meant for the fastest lap of the finishers. If you had stayed in the race, you also would have had a chance at running the 3 mile shortened loop that Mike ran on laps 2 thru 5. I know that was not expicitly expressed in the press release when the bonus money was announced, but that is how it was intended so that numerous classes and everyone had a chance at the money for the duration of the race and everyone would keep pushing hard during the race. I would really hope that we do not have to write rules and have an oversight commitee to award bonus monies to the racers encase I or someone writing a press release does not miss a word or intention of the sponsors. When I was asked what to look for when dividing up the money, I forwarded the sponsors wishes and reviewed the times for the fastest lap of any finisher in any class. With all due respect, I would like to return this thread to the congratulation of the win to Mike Mitchell and not have a thread that takes input from everyone with a keyboard on how bonus money should be split. I would have to assume that 75% of the RDC members (which have great input but not always relevant) are actually racers. If you have any questions, please give me a call. Thanks
Robert How is it far to change the course and not make sure all the cars no the course has been changed hdra should have left some one at the right hand turn to make sure all the cars went the right way once you changed the course the second time we came around the course markers were still up to go to the slit hill and not the short cut i think its bs that no one was thier to make sure we went the right way we were in a group of three cars and we all got lost because no information was relayed to us and the course markers were still for the original course yous should of left some one out thier in a wide open car to point people in the right way jimmy lee cook was over us in the chopper and didnt even know which way to point us in changing the course and only letting half the competitors know is BS

I believe Roger Norman explained this in an earlier post. I think Roger jumped into the chopper and arrived right as TT16 was coming through RM30 on their 2nd lap, in the lead. He waved his hands and tried to get TT16s attention, but did not have time to land before TT16 was already seeking a way around the blocked hill, and TT16 did not see Roger. He only had enough time to get down and send 2nd place and followers to the right hand turn shortcut. A real unfortunate situation for TT16. That is all I know... I was not there, but watching and commenting on it with IRC tracking and LiveOnDirt.... I was trying to warn people about it 45-60 minutes before it happened! I think HDRA Ops thought things were being handled by course workers and unfortunately were just then hearing the Bronco tow rig had rolled and other course workers could not get to the jam to clear it out. Am I missing something here?
