Score Baja 1000 Race Days?
Does anyone know the day the race actualy starts. If the schedule works according to the dates posted I think it starts on Thursday and ends on Friday so to have contingency on Wednsday and awards on Saturday. Is my assumption correct? We want to plan our trip correctly to see it in San Felipe. Thanks

Typical schedule for the penninsula run is contingency on Wednesday, race starts Thursday morning. If you're gonna be in San Felipe the racers go through there Thursday before noon.

Motorcycles will be in San Felipe before noon, but not trucks/buggies. If they do another four hour gap it will probably be more like between 2 and 3pm for lead TTs. Lead motorcycles will be through San Felipe between 9 and 10am.

That is assuming that the race will go trough San Felipe, make sure to check the Map as soon as it comes out (early October) because if SCORE decides to go on the Pacific side that's pretty far from SF.......just saying.

The first 1000 I went to, 1994, we got up really early so we didn't miss anything and drove down through Mexicali, crossing the border at 5am, we went south to where the course should of been and just saw a couple class 11 cars hauling the mail north back toward Mexical, on Saturday morning as they were just finishing. Went out Sal Dana to the course and nobody was there. How were we to know they ran the darn race on a weekday! Could not exactly look it up on the web in 94. It's funny too, how we knew exactly where we were and where all the roads went but there was no GPS. All we needed was a better calendar.
It's not about how much faster you can go, it's about how much longer you can go faster.

Man the good ol days. I can find you anywhere in Baja hunh CJ. Oh I do need a radio though and never leave the big ice chest up on the rack over your cab with Sol and mustard. Your crew will have yellow faces haha!

Getting through the military checkpoints on the day of that race is the problem. Crews need to get down there early, even better the day before---mine are going there as soon as they get banded.
