Just walk away. I will give you safe passage in the Wasteland. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer.----The Lord Humongous

Re: Aerodynamics in off road racing

If a Class 1 or a TT ran a windshield, where would the best place be to place the radiator? I always thought a simple tube or tunnel from the front of the truck over the trans tunnel to a radiator mounted lower than current norm in the back would work. High pressure area feeding a low pressure area. John Britten did this on his unique Superbike he built down in New Zealand once upon a time. I think the objection would be low speed running, but isn't that where the fans do most of the work anyway?

Having the radiator up front creates a great situation. It gets priority air (Freshest and most powerful) so you can run a smaller radiator. And since the air was slowed down you can control it easier out the back of the radiator. Then one more trick is the air is heated so it is also less dense.

Didn't the Chenowth Mellenium come with a wing.
    Nope.

By the way... Coolers suck. Use heat exchangers in the rad.... lighter by a mile, and no extra fans.

Re: Aerodynamics in off road racing

I found some shmaerodynamics the 1X team needs to start using!

Based on the interest....I think we should create a new class for aerodynamic cars/trucks!

What is everyones' ideas on suspension/undercarriage? Obviously shortening the ground clearance won't work all the way.... I was thinking if you keep all object edges sharp that are perpendicular to the air flow, and perhaps shielding as much as you could, it would help a little. Buggies would be a little easier probably to deal with than the trucks it seems like........Or would you even touch the underside?

All other aspects mentioned aside, wouldn't aero "improvements" be thrown out the window once you clip your fiberglass on a rock, bush, other car, etc...? Does the cost in improvements outweigh any benefit, given the environment?

First off the photo has not been photoshopped.

John Frana and his AWD Super/PRO Buggy tried this massive wing at a MAORA event earlier this year, looking to bring his front end up on high speed jumps. After a couple of 15 minute heat races, the mountings on the wing began to crack.

Wings are not legal, of any size or proportion at TORC events.

Robby has his suspension defuser in what seems the worst place on a truck and it stays there.

What material is it made from and how is it attached to prevent it from just being torn off?
