Dan, I don't recall how it went down but I do remember that a group hand delivered thousands of letters to the proper recipients. This was done because of the address confusion you brought up. As for the wrong address being material--I would certainly think so. Comment period ends Aug 27.
Curmmy, I didn't expect to find the letters in the docs but it was mentioned in the link provided that OHV letters raised issues that were addressed in the FEIS. I will get serious about reading all the docs tomorrow.
Congrats on the 90. Trail or "x" model? That bike holds my heart since I learned to ride on one back in the early 70's!!

Mods-----can this be made a sticky? Given less than 30 days to digest a LARGE set of documents and comment, it is critical to stay on top of this attempted land grab. Maybe a story on the Home page?

So far I have found OHV related material in Vol I, chapter 4.2 and in Vol II Appendix M. Keep in mind these are only the OHV sections I have found so far. There may be more and certainly OHV isn't the only concern addressed. I just started with OHV items since it is my biggest concern. Lots of reading to go thru to formulate substantive comments!

Haven't you ever seen a turtle, they live in a hard hat that is why they are not harmed by missiles..... In all seriousness, I was wondering the same thing!

It's all so simple, they live in bunkers and only come out at certain times of the year and day.. Bomb away the rest of the time.

Because its the gov. they can do what ever they want. I really wonder if there was even a study done. If anybody has ever been out on the base its simple to see that it is a dump out there. crap everywhere!!!! We have owned property in landers and johnson valley since the 70s this is a real shame.
When in fear stab it & steer!!!

Re: johson valley marines final environmental impact statement released today
It gets worse. Assemblymen Paul Cook who just wrote and was able to pass into law AB 1595 regarding helmets and restricts how and who uses UTV's, is on his last term as an assemblyman. He is going to be running for Congress and his District will be District 8 which also covers Johnson Valley. Cook is a Republican, but his history seems to show he votes more liberal. If his new law AB 1595 stays as is, it will be much easier for him to push his law Nationwide. His new law and its flaws show he is not on the side of the OHV user.
The man that will be running against him is Republican Gregg Imus. Imus is a firm believer of our rights to use public land and is against the Military taking Johnson Valley. I was able to speak to him the other day. He said if he wins Congressional District 8 he is going to do everything in his power to revert some of these new laws and get some of our public land back.
Check out his website. Call him or leave him a message. If you want to speak to him in person he will call you back. He called me at 7pm. http://www.imusforcongress.com/

Well, looks like from the cabin we'll be heading into the mountains towards big bear to ride rather then across to means and the dunes and all the D37 single track. The light shows might be better viewing now from the cabin!
