I like the chart that shows how muh land we have lost. We will be left with an area about the size of stoddard. From Camp Rock road to South Powerline. Any chance of 'sharing' the land is a joke. Their charts showing where they plan to fire live rounds covers pretty much the whole area. Anyone think they will be able to clear enough land of ordinance to make it safe for us?

Bart- There has never been any intention of clearing ordinance for open cross country travel. They will keep roads clear for controlled speed traffic through the new base land. Eventually, with the restrictions placed on speed and cross country travel, there will be little to no public use for recreation and they will aquire the land 100% through recreation attrition. As I said many times before, this deal was made long ago between the military and Diane Fienstein, the public scoping meetings, multiple plans, options, etc... were all just window dressing to make you think they cared before finally doing what they were gonna do anyway. Unfortunately, this is how these transactions are done at the federal level, and the public just gets fed a plate of hollow pasta with no meat sauce. How's it taste?

Dont understand how the desert hares, turtles, lizards, ect, are "significantly impacted" by OHV's but are unaffected by missles and bombs.....Weird...

I just spent the time to download the FEIS. I am particularly interested in reading the section added (or ammended) from the DEIS that addresses the OHV issues raised by the letters/comments received by the Dept of the Navy. There is much to digest across the board in this set of documents.

i ran around and collected a bunch of those forms that had to be filled out for this and sent them in only later to read on here that the address we were given to submit them was incorrect. Was that a waste of my time? Is it grounds to show that due process was not done here?

It's mostly what Hitchcock called the "maguffin," others might call it a bushel of red herring, or perhaps, sheep's fodder.

Grant, the letters and comments are NOT on the FEIS, but on separate documents, which I think are downloadable, or on CD.

(Please don't ask me how I know )

My quick take is that they just spread out the OHV recreational use across So and Mid Cal, including tiny short trails on Figuroa Mountain on the Los Padres National Forest, or Wildomar on the Cleveland.

Very few of the altenative OHV recreation areas are large enough to support any kind of OHV racing event, with the possible exception of 1/25 or smaller scale r/c cars.

Well if you pay the tree huggers enough grant money to "Study" the land they not only give it back to your campain this year, they will also ignore the possibility of craters and lead in the landscape.
