New V2R Time Trial Format ---

Those in the know... know that the BITD time trial is the best 2-3 hrs of motorsports in the USA - unfortunately, we are losing some of the extreme nature of these time trials. The new format is for a low speed follow-the-leader guided tour of the course, then the time trial. I understand why - delays and crashes on the practice loop, etc., but half of the action is now gone for spectators. Oh, well, it is not really a spectator event, anyway.

By the way, does anyone know if the underpass past Tonopah this year is the little or the bigger one? (the other being the Goldfield underpass, not in use this year)


One week until the best desert race in the USA --- two thumbs up for Casey Folks and BITD workers -- I am amazed that such a race can be permitted and organized here in the USA ... 500+ miles, point-to-point, on public land, and through towns! Casey Folks deserves a gold medal for his efforts.

I kinda like it. Will cut the time sitting and waiting almost in half and will also not tear up the track as much and give the guys in the back a chance on a good run. Bet you see more carnage on the timed lap than in the past

wow, that kinda sucks..... That G-out at 40mph is alot different at 80mph, and oops should of checked up a little more for that one. Time trials delayed for overturned car in coarse. I disagree with this but, at the same time I can understand the meaning behind it.....

By your same logic, we had 9 delayed starts for the pre-run at the Mint 400 qualifying. 9 delays on a known course that racers have taken at speed for 2 years. This course is a new qualifying loop and I think a once over at a slow speed gives everyone the same oppurtunity to read the dirt, what to expect and test driver and co-driver together....But what do I know.

Steve if Rob is qualifing the truck, It really doesnt matter - It could be on the moon or Mars and he will get it done.....

Has to be in north las Vegas apex area. No way to get to jean or primm in an hr reg ends at 1-130 and lap starts at 2

There should be no qualify prerun loop at all. There is no prerun for the race. They should do it Friday morning before the race like they did at Nevada 2000. People will slow down and it will be more accurate to how people race and not how far they will take their car to the edge knowing they can work on it. Or Thursday late afternoon and go right to impound. They can do past history by now and pretty much determine the qualify order!
