I would rather sit in the Border crossing line for 10 hours after racing baja than losing 2 hours of my life to BITD's painful drivers meeting and 6 more hours to their boring contingency!!!

Other sanctioning bodies seem to be doing just fine holding races on public lands in the US.

You mean those glorified games of high speed follow-the-leader down graded dirt roads where nobody can pass anybody? Yeah, they have a lot of entries because they are cheaper and easier. Cheaper and easier will always yield more entries, just like there are millions of people that play softball and only a few hundred people that play big league baseball. The BITD races are built the way they are because of insane regulations that limit what they can and can't do out there, which means using lots of hard packed roads that are easy to grade when the race is over, no pre running, very limited and tightly controlled pit access, etc. The best accessory you can have for a BITD race is a 200 gallon fuel tank because unless you pull over to pit, good luck to anybody trying to pass you. Robby Gordon couldn't even pass a freakin UTV for 15 MINUTES!!! at the SS300, and while he was putzing along behind that dude, neither BJ or Rob Mac could pass HIM! All it did was bunch them up enough so that the guy in physical 3rd place could cross the finish line first on time. Awesome "racing".
Just walk away. I will give you safe passage in the Wasteland. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer.----The Lord Humongous

So Sal stopped holding races in the US because they are "cheaper and easier"? Or because they aren't exciting enough for competitors? Yeah right. Do you remember when Primm got canceled last season so he just ran the SF250 again? I love racing (actually just chasing for me) in Baja but lets be honest, Sal is doing what is easiest for Sal. These days I see SCORE in pretty stark contrast to hungry promoters like HDRA and King of the Hammers that are working hard to improve their product with ever race.
