YZ-450 Can I Convert to Electric Start?
Yea, I know. It sounds wimpy. Truth is I hurt my back bad racing my 5 open car. I'm lamed up for a few more months, but I still want to putt around with my kid during my recovery. Kick starting my bike would hurt like all get-out. My 2006 YZ-450 needs to be electric start for this old man to ride it. Has anybody done such a conversion or do you know anybody that could do it?
Thanks

Find an XT225 or similar. Park 450.
Hey! You kids!! Get OFF my driveway!!! If you can't go away happy, just go away!

It would be cheaper/easier to buy a bike with the E-start already installed. I know on the honda's it wouldn't work because the engines aren't exactly interchangeable; I assume it would be similar with other makes of bikes.
Sell your bike and get yourself a YZF (of CRF) and be done with it

Re: YZ-450 Can I Convert to Electric Start?
I was hoping somebody who knows would post. If there is a flywheel, battery, and starter, that would fit, I'd rather go that route than junk this one. Its got a whole new motor and everything...

Re: YZ-450 Can I Convert to Electric Start?
You have two people who know and have posted.
To put a starter on requires a case that has a mount/hole for the starter to fit into. Then you have to buy the starter and hook up the electrical system to it and find a place for a battery....We haven't said it's not possible, but you would only be using your frame/suspension and everything else would be different (motor/electrical system)
If you don't believe the people on here and if you want to see if anyone else with your bike has tried/done it go search the forums on thumpertalk.com
