2001 Ford f-250 transmission
I've got a 2001 f-250 4x4 with 7.3 diesel, 170,000 miles and the tranny started acting up today. My wife was driving it and she said would slip out of gear, then not drive, then drive , then clunck, then drive ok, then slip and so on. She made it home but had to pull over a few time and put it in park then back to drive.
I drove it later in the day when I got home. I was able to go around the block with no problems. Tomorrow I'll try and go a little further. I checked the fluid and it's a touch low but not to bad, still red and didn't smell burnt.
Does anyone recommend a good shop in San Diego area (I'm in Poway)? I'm guessing at 170,000 miles it's due for a rebuild anyways...

I talked to John at Factory Trans in Santee. I'm gonna bring the truck down to him tomorrow.
