Casey updated everyone at the awards banquet. Unfortunately the 13-year-old hero (and I mean that sincerely) was hit by a UTV from behind. He apparently suffered a broken back and was airlifted to a Vegas hospital.
I hope he'll be OK!

Re: looking for updates on v2r motorcycles
This is his dad. My son, Alex Ortiz, is at home resting. Some info about what happend. He was in the silt bed past pit 1 moving along when he hit a deep pocket and came to a stop. I also rode this section and it was very dusty. A few seconds later he was hit by a utv. It seem like he got the top of the roll cage. The driver and co-driver got to him quickly and carefully moved him off the track and move the utv to protect him. The EMTs got to him and started to get him ready for transport to the highway. The utv drive stayed with Alex till they left the area , then he continued to pit 2 to meet with my wife and let her know how he was doing. I thank the drive for helping and caring for my son. He was taken to Beatty then flown to Vegas hosp. They found hair line fractures in L1 and L2 of his back. He stayed in the hosp for 36hrs they was send home with a back brace. He is at home doing just fine. He will be in the brace for 4-6 weeks then back to riding and racing. I what to thank the whole racing community for the support we have gotten. Im very proud of son for trying this. I hope he will have the chance to do it again. He is 14yrs old.

Thanks so much for the update. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this, but it does my heart good to hear that Alex is going to be back in action. More power to you and your son!
