    Ferrule Crimper (Wire Rope)

Any suggestions for a decent, not 200.00, ferrule crimper for small gauge wire rope - wire rope to be used as lanyards? Also, any other outlets where available other than McMaster?

    Thanks

I bought some at Lowe's recently. They were only about $30. They have all the ends there too. Everything is in the hardware department near the padlocks.

Thanks, picked one up to have on hand, unfortunately, it only goes down to 1/16. Also, looking for a hand held for thinner diameters that isn't priced like it is gold.

May look at milling a couple blocks of different diameter "troughs" to use in a press if there are no realistic alternatives.

What type of wire rope is smaller than 1/16"? Why use such a thin wire?

If it was me I would look into trying some fishing tools, like for making custom tackles. They use some thin diameter metal lines.

3/64", making wire lanyards for a few GoPro cameras...needs to slide between metal bar "hinge" on back of case. That is a good idea though, need to look through my saltwater stuff.

Just use bull nose cutters. You will get the feel for the ferrules.

I use 1/32" and 1/64" stainless wire rope. Hard to find stainless ferrules, bronze is copper in the small sizes.

Ha, bought the lanyard kit 1/32 (14.00) through McMaster...and what compression tool does it come with? An electrical butt connector crimper.

I have the lanyards that we had made for out mount I could get you for a couple of bucks.

Id be worried about the strength of the hinge on the case if you had to drive through the desert with the camera hanging.

I have your roll cage mounts with lanyard. Added another lanyard from camera case to mount, for added insurance. After you add up a HD camera, Wifi Backpacs, 32G SD card and everything else... a couple dollars on an extra lanyard seems like a worthwhile investment. We'll see how they do this weekend.
