Jeep starting problem

Hey Everybody,

My '95 XJ(Cherokee) won't start, but it makes a loud grinding type of noise when I try to crank it. Is it a bad starter or something else??

pull the starter out and inspect the gear on the starter and the teeth on the flex plate all the way around. if the flex plate is fine, replace the starter.
