    The latest scam from Nigeria

Just received this in my e-mail

I can't believe that these people still try this crap....

    Dave

<<From: Mrs Collins joy Haafkens of Netherlands
I am Mrs. Collins joy from Netherlands.

I am married to Dr.Franklyn Haafkens who worked with Chevron Texaco in Nigeria for twenty years before he died in the year 2000.We were married for twenty-seven years without a child.
He died during one of the riot in the Niger delta region of Nigeria. He was held hostage and slain to death by protesting youths of the region.

Before his death we were both born again Christians. Since his death I decided not to re-marry.
When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of (Eight Million six hundred thousand U.S.Dollars) with a security company in the Netherlands.

Presently, this money is still with the bank and the management just wrote me as the beneficiary to come forward to receive the money or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf if I can not come over.

Presently, I'm with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment for cancer of the lungs. I have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live.

It is my last wish to see that this money is invested the proceed at the end of every year distributed among charity organization.

I want a person that is God fearing that will use this money to fund churches, orphanages and widows propagating the word of God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained.

The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because i know that there are a lot of poor people suffering from different kind of disease and nobody to come to their aid. With God
all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Security Company.

I will also issue you a letter of authority that will prove you as the new beneficiary of this Fund. You are to help me invest these funds into real estate and stocks.
You will be entitled to 10% of every profit you make in a year.

Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein.
Hoping to hearing from you soon.

    Waiting for your reply

    Yours in Christ,

    Mrs. Joy Collins Haafkens.

I have a guy who is trying to give me eleven million dollars. I am stringing him along. The people who try this are really clueless about the real world. As a member if Star League Defensive Force, I told him it would be an honor to help him. I told him that I am in Mexico right now invetigating a ship that crew disappered and my partner "Tully" is very excited about the money too.

Cool Re: The latest scam from Nigeria

I have been getting e-mails like this about every 10 days for the last 2 years! The english is really twisted.

Also watch out if you bid on expensive items on ebay like machinery. People with the same poor english are sending out fake "second chance offers." They especially follow up on anything sold from Reliable Tool (Irwindale) on ebay.

If your looking for something blingy and complex, I'm delighted to disappoint you!

Thanks for the warning, I've bought a lot of stuff from Richard. Reliable Tool is a great place to get machinery....I think more than half of the equipment in my shop was bought through them, I hope it doesn't effect their business any.....it's hard to believe that people actually come up with this crap and expect it to work without getting caught...

And David...LMAO at "Tully"...that is freakin' awesome....

Re: The latest scam from Nigeria

They don't get caught because they are overseas. Judging by the english, probably the mideast. My email must be posted on an Iraqi billboard somewhere. I get this stuff all the time. The second chance offers are trickier than you might think. Some look fairly legitimate with logos and all. I got one and it sounded good. Rather than send money to an email address of which "reliabletool" was a part of, I went to Reliable Tool to look at the item. They said it was already paid for and picked up. They also said it happens all the time and that someone was in there a couple of days earlier to pick something up that was already gone. That poor guy lost over $3,000 on the scam.

If you are sending money, verify who you are sending it to. If you are paying for auction items by wire, it is best to use established auction payment companies, avoid open bank wire transfers. Do a backup phone call before paying if you suspect anything or have questions. And if it sounds too good to be true...
