Beam replacement

Well, we got through SF with our horribly bent beam and only trashed the bushings and bent the shock bolts. It's clearly time to swap that thing out. So, I have a couple of questions and don't feel like you have to hold back 'cause the last time I owned a beam car was a long, long time ago.

We have (we believe) +4 arms. We've been running a Bilstein 9100 10" stroke coilover and a 7100 second shock. I don't know about valving at this time. I also don't know the coil rates. What I do know is it appears the way the shocks were set up the lower mount was too close to the beam pivot, thus limiting travel by interference with teh beam both up and down. So, ?1, where on the arm should the lower shock mount be?
?2, is a ten inch coilover sufficient to get max travel out of a beam front end? If not, then what?
?3, how do you all normally handle the trade-off between adequately bracing the outer end of the beam and allowing full travel of the tie rods. (We're running a Wright rack mount to the top back of the upper beam.)
