    Needed - 7s rule clarification / pics

    One of my customers was recently told by Bill savage that on his toyota 7s truck the shackle pivot point could NOT be placed above or through the frame - in effect that it must stay below the frame as it was stock. But i'm thinking how many toyotas and chevy 7s trucks have i seen out there with the shackles pivoting above or through the frame...old macpherson truck, bob grams truck, old fabtech truck, etc, etc....the problem is I dont have any pics of these setups - anybody out there who could help me out with pics and some clarification on this rule i would apprieciate it, thanks.

    My rule book states:
    Front and rear suspension must be of the same manufacture, shape, size and configuration as originally produced and installed on the chassis to which is mounted.

    ***All suspention components EXCEPT shocks and rear LEAF SPRINGS will remain in the original stock locations and original stock MOUNTING METHODS maintained***.

    All components will be original manufactures design with the exception of shocks.

    ==============================

    All except shocks and leafs makes me beleive the shackle design is open. But I am only a 1450 guy...lol. What do I know.

    That is technically correct - the top pivot cannot be above the frame. However many 7s Toyota's are set up that way. Here is a pic of my rear pivot - and this has been on the truck for YEARs, and has raced SCORE, La Rana, and mdr in the past. Not sure if anything was ever said about this set up. Due to the fact the Toyota springs are mounted under the frame vs beside the frame like a Ranger, there is no other way to get good wheel travel w/o the rear sitting very tall.

    *BTW When we wrote the MORE7s rules, we made an allowance for this as many existing trucks we set up this way*

    If you are in the area, the old Fabtech 7s is on display at Aggressive Suspensions in Anaheim. I know it has 57" springs under the axle, but I can't remember how the shackles mounted.
