    Balljoints

I have a jeepspeed car that is running a 2wd front beam. We replaced the upper and lower ball joints before our last race. I have been busy rebuilding/upgrading the car and have finally gotten to the front suspension. I took off the front end last week and found the lower ball joints destroyed. They are loose and wobbly. The uppers are tight and seem fine. The ball joints are the MOOG enhanced design ball joints.

The balljoints probalby only have 200 miles on them. This seems premature but who knows. I have been told just to change them every race. If this happened after 200 mile I dont know how I could make it 1000

any suggestion on a different balljoint uni ball ??

    Re: Balljoints

Hey Greg I have heard that some prefer the Napa "fleet" series BJ's over the MOOG's... they should have the blue boot on them, so I would maybe give those a shot.

    Re: Balljoints

This is not a jeep specific post but my experience is bad with moog ball joints. I had better luck with stock replacments on my Ranger. I don't suggest you use stock replacment I am just saying don't use moog. Tie rod ends yes, ball joints no.

Also, shouldn't the uppers go out first on a solid axle? I don't know the steps to install but could you have not pressed them in enough on the bottom? Hope I help...I am not a jeep guy

    Re: Balljoints

i too have had a bad experience with moog balljoints.. i agree on useing the napa fleet series balljoints, or stock replacements over the moogs if you don't want to use uniballs.. which are far superior in my opinion then a standard ball joint

    Re: Balljoints

At this point what do we have to loose. I mean if they are only lasting a couple hundred miles or so what worse could happen. I think the irregular load from the "incident" might have put a little more odd angled load on them as well. :0

You can always get custom TT type 90* balljoints for like $365 each! Don't you wish we all had that much money!
