So how many on his team were NASCAR Bubbas and how many were locals? We stopped by Estero on Friday and didn't recognize anyone but Baja Bob,Till, & Dave.

A lot of RG Off Road is newbes and many fab guys ended up in NC when RG upgraded to NEXTEL CUP. Roger Willis left RGOR about 4 months ago.

I heard that Jimmy Smith was gonna let Rubby use his jet Sat night but they wouldn't let it land in Ensenada after dark.
Yeah, newbies, thats what happened at the 1000, newbies getting lost in the dez. I thought his pretty chase trucks all had GPS??? Newbs are kool if you don't have problems, or flats when they cross-thread the lug nuts.

I'd be surprised with the quick on studs he has and the lug nuts siliconed to the spares if even race rookies could cross-thread during a tire change. I've seen RGR tire changes twice in the past couple of years and I have to say I've never seen it done faster in the dez.

Re: Robby Gordon Motorsports pics from the Baja 500
I seem to remember that the problem was with a cross threaded lug nut which caused the wheel not to be tight which led to a hub failure, I could be wrong, but it was a pit crew error/problem of that nature. We had problems crewing for Jimmy Smith with lug nut glue, the nuts could pop off as you placed the wheel on. The method is not without occasional problems. However the NASCAR Bubbas are good at changing tires in short order.
The point I was trying to make is that it's much easier to win races if you don't have problems. It's when you have problems and you recover from them shows the true quality of a team. How many hours were the Bubbas/Newbs lost for at the 1000?? Something like 3 hours wasn't it? In the 2000 the Vortec team changed a tranny at Guerrero Negro and kept Ragland in the hunt. That's quality, not your standard when in trouble, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout you see with other teams.
