    funky fords

alright i have a 94 ford ranger with a 2.3 my problem seems to be a mystery while at idle i can rev and hold at 3-5 rpm and the motor runs fine while driving the throttle stays or revs up to 3-4000 rpm when i have or am holding in the clutch in ,no matter what gear im in. and does not return to idle until i come to a complete stop one problem i found was a bad ignition coil then an open vacum line all have been replace or fixed but i still have a stuck throttle i can drive down the street without holding the clutch or throttle in first and second i am at a standstill with this problem any help would be great

i think he ment the throttle position sensor.

also check the idle air control valve and check for any vacuum leaks around the throttle body and intake plenum. sometimes the plenum gaskets can get sucked in.

you can lightly spray brake clean around the top of the motor and if the idle jumps way up then you found your leak. just dont do this when the motor is blazing hot.

and physically check that the throttle plate is closing and there are no obstructions in the cable or linkage.
