    blind nuts

Anybody have a source for the nuts pictured below in 5/16 or 3/8? I've always called them blind nuts but searchs for blind nuts all come up with rivets. I found these called "lug" nuts, but the problem is obvious there. I need them to hold my belly pan on. Thanks, george.

Try a search for "threaded clip fastener" or "U nut" - I always call them U nuts.

Google search for U nut threaded fastener came up with this... http://www.boltproducts.com/tinnerma...ng-u-type.html

Mcmaster Carr Catalog Has Them In It. Air Craft Spruce Also Has Them. Some Good Auto Parts Stores Have Them , But Those Are Far And Few Between Anymore. They Work Realy Good For Skid Plates.

    here's another option: http://blindrivetsupply.com/detail.aspx?ID=835

my race truck has over 200 of these on it, holding every thing from body panels to the gas pedal.

there's an installation "kit" on the same site too but i prefer the installation tool i just got from lawson products for the 1/4" and larger sizes.

    Re: blind nuts

Just received my order of U-nuts (also called "folded nuts" according to the packaging) from Thecliplink.com. This is a Yahoo store and it was very easy to find what I needed in both 5/16 and 3/8 sizes. There are also metrics avail. for those of you looking for replacements for stock hardware. Different ranges of depth (reach from edge of tab to c/l hole) avail. too. Only downside- I ordered several hundred of a couple of sizes...backordered them three weeks. However I did get my order as soon as they were in and they were considerably cheaper than everywhere else I've seen posted. That's my info for the masses...I am spent.

A good source for nut plates, or any other aircraft parts is Aircraftspruce.com. They ship fast and have it all in stock.
