ESB Fabrications robbed!! shops in N. county watch out!
as im sure many other fab and auto shops go through, theres constantly customers, soliciters, and random people looking for the shop next door coming in and out of your shops. unfortunately after time goes by you let your guard down to this somewhat...keeping an eye on the people coming in but not thinking much of it when your worried about work. well...to get to the point, while i was out in the shop talking to ryan, a man came in and took the money out of my wallet (around $700), and was gone as quick as that. we ran out the shop but couldnt get a license plate number. the man is a black man around 30 years old, with a black-ink tattoo (just an ugly jumble of junk on his arm) on his right forearm, about 6'3", weighing about 250+ lbs, really really built, must lift weights like its cool. was wearing a bluish/purple spandex muscle shirt and black jogging pants. after he left the shop, he got into an older american silver/grey car driven by someone else (as a witness in a shop next to mine says). the other shops in the area said that he'd been looking around their shops all morning as well, as if he was staking the place out...so it only makes sense that these people do this on a regular basis. im writing this to let the other local fab shops in my area to WATCH OUT for this character, and of course let my negligance serve as a lesson to other shops that even in broad daylight when your 10 feet from a person, they will still rip you off, so dont let your gaurd down. my shop is in escondido by the auto park, and there are a TON of fabshops in this area that most likely frequent this board, so keep an eye out.

that sucks, had the same thing happen to me at my shop. guy came out of the office asking my worker if we where hiring, mexican guy, i was in the back he had taken my wallet off my desk never know he was in there .nomaly we lock the front door so they have to come though the shop, but someone left it open. he only got $20 bucks and they got gas with my c/c 's.but what a pain had to cancel all my c/c 's and had no id. right at chrismas time when i need c/c's to buy gifts and they ask for id to, what a pain.
$700, that would kill me on rent. fricken blows man.

Sorry to hear that Mike.....same thing happened to me about a month ago.....I was working in my shop and had left my front office door open like a trusting, working class, man. Some freakin' a-hole decides that my digital camera would look better in a pawn shop window then on my desk. I'm not as pissed about the camera as I am about the memory card that had 200+ photos of projects I've done over the last 3 years.
I now lock my shop up tight so that they only have one way to come in or out and when I'm working late at night I sometimes even lock myself in.
It's unfortunate that as honest business owners and hard working Americans we can't even let our personal belongings out of our sight inside our own businesses.
I say we form a shop owner's posse!!!!

Re: ESB Fabrications robbed!! shops in N. county watch out!
what really sux is that im usually very good about not leaving stuff in the office while im in the shop or out back, but all it takes is one minute of negligence to create an opportunity for the dishonest people watching to take advantage of it.
but like i said, the main reason i put this on here is that the way these people did this made it obvious that they were not just some random dudes who came up on an opportunity. they obviously had a routine and technique...and that means they've probably done it before and are most likely going to do it again, hence, shops in north county watch just need to pay attention and watch for this big black dude who had no place in an offroad shop.

We had a Mexican guy come in the door years ago and steal a impact gun while on of the guys was welding early in the morn. Pat chased him and got a partial plate and good description of him and the truck. I spotted this guy a week later and got the cops to arrest him. He had gone into a trailer park for some dope and the cops had him staked out. Turns out he robbed 6 other shops around. He got a nice long stay in a fine state facility. We now have a door dinger on each entrance. They make a different sound depending which door it is. Pretty much stops the riff raff cold!

Trust me I'm starting to entertain the idea myself.......
Mike.....right after I found that my camera was missing I spoke to a couple of the shop owners in my business park and they told me that they had seen a guy wandering aimlessly around the park for a couple of days before my camera was taken.......in fact, one shop owner told me that he caught (who I assume to be the same guy) in his shop in the middle of the day, drinking one of the beers from his fridge... and when he approached him and asked him what the f**k he was doing....the guy replied "I found this in the fridge"....the owner asked him to leave and the guys response to that was.... "can I finish using the microwave for the taquitos I found in there, too?"
The blatent disregard for other people's property is amazing......

Re: ESB Fabrications robbed!! shops in N. county watch out!
At our familys machine shop (Western CNC) we always have random people coming in looking for work. Our receptionist hands them an app. to fill out. Well about 6 months ago a mexican guy came in looking for work. She hands him an app. and realizes she dosent have a pen he could use. She goes to next office over and returns with the pen only to find an empty lobby. This guy saw her purse sitting on the desk and figured he wanted it more than the job. IN the last two months we to install security gates on our bay doors because of theifs coming into our building and stealing product and raw material. You just cant give them any opprortunity because they will take whatever they can.
