Re: MORE freedom 250 race pics and stories
We had shift linkage problems right from the start. No 3rd or 4th stopped at CORE pit A and got some help from Tim lindsay and friends Thanks guys got upper gears and took back off.Passed back a few of the cars that got buy us in the pits car was working good I thought coming into the last check point on the first lap Patteli`s truck almost took us out while passing them and we had to go off course to avoid them tweaking all of our lights stopped at main pit Thanks again to all the guys and girls there that helped from the 738 team of Perry Fleming.Started the second lap still having shifter problems but continued on the course was Awesome. We thought MORE did a great job of marking the course. On thev 3rd lap we must have hit a pretty large rock as it smashed one of the lower tubes cracking the trans. So we quit after three laps. Also would like to Thank the Geers out at pit d for their help in letting me know it was cracked. And last but not least I would like to Thank my partner and car owner Scott Martin for letting us go out and have fun tearing up the car without him.Scott had a small ceaser (sp) while we were on the phone on Friday and was unable to attend but is doing fine now. Thanks again to everyone that made this race happen it was fun while it lasted and we will be back in Barstow in December.Bill Markel Bonfire racing

1302 Race Report
Greg started first off the line in 1300. Had 3 minutes after the 1st lap, 7 minutes after lap 2 and 10 minutes after lap 3. I got in co-dog at Pit B on the 3rd lap with a driver change at main on 4th lap. Heard at the beginning of the 4th lap that our main competition had broken so we cruised it in for the win. Thanks to everyone that helps cause I know Greg does not post here. Butch and all the FAIR guys at Pit B for fueling each lap. Congrats to all the finishers and the winners. See you in September

Re: MORE freedom 250 race pics and stories
DMS #7104 had a pretty interesting night. At about mm7 on the first lap with Kevin Davis driving and me in the co-dog seat the tranny locks up in second gear and wont budge out of gear at all, I jump out of the truck real quick and pop the cable off the tranny and make sure the cable and/or shifter wasnt froze up and see that the shift selector will not budge. We diecide to limp it into Pit B and see what the crew can do to fix it. We roll to the pits and decide to swap the tranny and see if we can at least do a couple laps, after 2.5 hours of wrenching ( the tranny is a major P.I.T.A to R&R!) we get the truck going again. Kevin and I run around to about mm30'ish and hit a pretty big rock that was sunk in the mud and hear a loud a$$ bang and hope the truck is still in one piece, after we get passed Slash X we start to hear and very loud and disturbing clunk in the truck, at one of our remote pits our guys looked over the truck and couldn't find anything wrong so we limped her in to main pit to do a co-driver change and we look over the truck and decide that the clunk is a bad heim in the steering ram that is resonating thru the cage work sounding worse than it really is. Stacy Robburts (Kevin D's sis) hops in the pass. seat and Kevin says to me, " Go for it!" I was supposed to drive for the first time on the last lap but getting in early really shocked me so I jumped at the chance. Stacy and I had a fairly uneventful two laps. the only problem being a unplugged rad fan and crooked light from hitting a pretty big digger at speed, thank to Steve Lang for the pit stop. I make it back in to main for the last lap and a final co-driver change with James Brooks getting in for the final lap. It was one a.m when I took off the last lap and we hammered it around and just barely finshed in the time limit.
Driving a race truck in a professional off-road race was so much more than I thought it would be after spending 4 years as a co-driver, it was absolutley amazing. A HUGE thanks goes out to the whole Davis family especially Kevin Davis for trusting me enough to hand over the truck to a newbie. Our whole pit crew has such determination to not let us get a DNF.
A big thanks to Kevin, Stacy and Jake Robburts, James Brooks, Lenin Montenegro, Jeremy from J&D, Lin and Andrew Neal, Steve and Kathleen Lang, and anybody else I forgot!!!!

Re: MORE freedom 250 race pics and stories
Warren Messick driving the last 3 laps in Shane Brown's 10 car went head on with some spectators that were going backward on the course while leading overall. It was towards the end of the 5th lap at night. I heard it completely tore the left front corner off of the car. Major bummer.....

Re: MORE freedom 250 race pics and stories
little different in the drivers seat huh skyler! It is going to be hard getting back in on the right side from now on. I still haven't got back in that side. Don't even know if I will.
And yeah that really sucks about shanes car, they could have won overall. Cars can be replaced, but people can't. Out of all that I was glad to hear the Warren was ok.
I wish I would have been there with Jimmy, I know for a fact they they would be holding their teeth in their hands, walking out of there.
There is no excuse for driving back wards on the course. Heard they were OCA's what a bunch if idiots.

I saw Shane's car when they were loading it on the trailer. It looked pretty messed up. Glad that he was ok.
Way to go Skyler on your first time driving. You were haulin on your last lap when you came by our pit. I look forward to seeing you and Kevin at the next race.
Jamie Cambell brought out his very nice looking, brand new 1 car #199. He blew a tranny and had to call it quits.
Jennifer Clemison took second place in class one. She did a good job in the car nursing a bad trans for most of the race.
It was a fun event, I had a great time. Look forward to the next race.
