Re: Glen Helen
I’m going Sat. and maybe Sun. My nephew Andy Bakken will be trying to qualify for the 125 class on Sat and if he make the show I’ll be going back on Sun. It’s his first year as a pro ( and 4th race in the nationals) so we’re all pretty excited. You may remember his dad A.C. Bakken former Husky rider and multiple Baja winner. The kids got some big shoes to fill, but he’s got a good attitude and he’s having fun.
I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll wear a team shirt so I'll be easier to spot.

We are heading up there too, going to see Robby Bell, he will be trying to qualify to race with the big boys, sure hope he does. Would love to see a local boy do good against the big boys.
Everybody should remeber A. C., he is a legend, and best of luck to his son, what number will he be running?

Re: Glen Helen
Andy Bakken is #671, He's riding a Yamaha for TO Yamaha/Pro Curcit. Been running mid pack and if not taken out by others makes the show. We're all proud of his first year. AC has been wrenching for Andy up untill he started doing the Nationals, They decided to spend the bucks pay for one of the wrenches from Pro Curcit travel with Andy. Mitch Payton has been real good to Andy, "Factory Novice" they've nicknamed him. Speaking of Mitch, AC said that they were having a bachelor party for him last night.

Re: Glen Helen
Cool,
Now I have someone to root for in the 125 class. I beleive Robby Bell will be running the number 523, he is the son of Bob Bell from Precision Concepts Racing. He is the team partner of Kendall Normand on the Honda B team is the Score races.
Bob and I used to team in the team races back in the 80's in D38 so we have known Robby for a long time, like you we sure hope he qualifies. If A C is there in the pits, I sure would like to get his autograph on a hat. I really like to read on the old school desert racing from the 60's and 70's, those riders were tough.
Here is a great website for the old desert racing in the 50's-80's http://www.thebannerisup.com/

OMG! I didn't know about that site. Way cool. I'll have to pass on to AC. The pic of him and Mitch with the tie at BtoV. He still the trophy on his mantel, it's cut in half, down the middle, Mitch has the other.
AC will be there if Andy qualifies. As I was replying to Ollie, I'll wear a Miller/Arcerio taem shirt so if you spot me grab me and I'll take you over and introduce you to AC, if you want.

Im pretty mad about not going this year. I went last year and it was a great experience. Good luck to Robby Bell and Andy "Bacon" Bakken.
