I am posting this for a friend he is looking at getting a total chaos lift kit for the front of his 92 4runner in order to make it into a capable prerunner that might be able to keep up with my car when it is done. The problem is finding a good rear lift kit for that coil setup that would keep up with the total chaos front end. Thanks for the help.

I would just say do some custom fab'n. Either get a stiffer spring with a longer bypass shock and do a hoop with some bars or do a short course 3 link style or even 62" Deavers with a cantilever system or do how I have my 4runner and do the rear like a traditional truck LT rear leaf spring system.

Yea I don’t think he wants to go to custom or expensive I know that there isn’t much cheap about the total chaos kit and I don’t know what he is thinking ether. So I think he wants to go with just some longer coils and shocks to level out with the front end. the thing is all the longer coils seem to be made for rock crawlers so they would be way to soft. The only ones I found were the Downey ones, does anyone know of a better set up?

no prob so if he just wants to keep the stock coils run a set of bypasses or some smooth/threaded bodys with possibly a set of bumpstops. Remember the coils are to just hold the truck up and the shock does all the dampening. Well at least thats how alot of people think but everybodys situation is going to be different. I take it he has a 4wd 4runner? I really do not think anything else could live up there with out 4wd.

he dosent even have to get new coils just new shocks will lift it enough for 33sbecause if the front lifts it 4 inchs you would want the back to lift it about that much to right???

No the coils should theretically(sp?) do the lifting and hold the weight of the vehicle. All the shock should do is do the dampening. I guess the shocks charged with nitrogen should lift up maybe half an inch or so. Go with a better coil than stock and fab up a set of hoops with a cross bar and wa la! Keep in mind you will have to cycle the suspension to get the proper geometry back their.

Oh and ya it say to raise the rear the same as the front if possible for the Alaskan terrain.
