Buggie front tire issues

Does anybody have opinions on the functional differences between the old BFG Trak 1700 (7.00 x 15LT) and the newer Commercial TA (235 75r15) they are selling as buggie front tires? I'm not enthused with the Commercial TA and if anyone wants to trade two for some of the older tires (in good shape of course) I'd be willing to go for it (and pay for mounting). Mine are on an open 5 car (if it makes any difference).

Also, does anybody in the San Diego area have a couple of the old BFG 7.50 x 16 fronts mounted up that I could borrow for testing? I'd like to check the difference between those and the 15s without having to buy a set. Seems like there ought to be a bunch around since class one has moved away from them. I'll probably be going out to Superstition the 17th. Thanks, george.
