I am looking at a set of 16" Kuster shocks, 2 are bypass, all are 3 way adjustable, seams to ba a good deal to me and also a bunch of other parts will come with these for my truck.
Here is the ??? I have, can I still get seals, valves and whatever else I may damage during its use or will they just get tossed when junk.
From what I was told they are pre race runners from the 80's is this true
Any help would be

Try Gerardo Iribe, he's on here somewhere. Maybe his dad Carlos Iribe could help out too.

Didn't someone just ask about Kuster parts not tht long ago? I think your best bet to get info is to call King Shock as they are who actually built those shocks. Chris Wilson also knows a lot about Kusters so maybe he will post some info.

You can still get rebuild kits from King. Seals, o-rings, and valve shims are all
common. If you break a Kuster specific item like the aluminum end with the
clicker cavity, then you will not find a new one. But you might find used parts
or your could machine some items. Sometimes Brett King has old Kusters in stock
that you can buy for parts etc. Excellent shocks. If the shafts are not pitted
and the cans are not dented, buy them.

he is right, king does all the rebuild on mine..I run them all the way around on my 5-16 and they told me as long as I do not damage the shaft they can replace/rebuild as I need.
if its in control...your going to slow.

Old sway a way alum parts will fit fine. I up graded a pair of 7/8 kuster shafts to 1" sway a away's and replaced the lower can cap that has the seal in it and a also changed out the lower end and the shocks work fine.

WOW thanks for the info. I am going to get them as soon as he tells me how much shipping will be. He has also sent me some pics of there and they look to be in very nice shape, the only thing wrong is the one shaft seal has a small leak in it. Looks like I am going to get the shocks and a tub of other parts for under 4 bills

even the shafts should be fairly easy to get at any local hydrulic shop, you might just need to get the ends drilled and taped.
