VW alternator Bosch or fake? Need feedback please
I just bought what is supposed to be a brand new polished Bosch 75 amp alternator for my baja bug. I am a little suspect of what was delivered to me. The box is plain white with no labels or markings of any kind. The heads of the three small screws that hold the big end cover on are mostly stripped out. There is no nameplate, stamping or any type of ID on the case anywhere.
I am concerned that this unit may not be OE Bosch (and brand new). The polished 51 amp Bosch I have now has an oval metal tag screwed or riveted to it. Does Bosch make these 75's factory or are they new but taken apart and rewound?
I need to know for sure what I was sent. Thanks for your help.

Re: VW alternator Bosch or fake? Need feedback please
Bosch only made the 51s. No longer available as of this month. The 75s are just like you guessed, rewound, (by who?). Bosch said if they do bring them back they will be at least twice the price.
