Best Shock Choice
If money were no object, what would be the best shock or shock combo on a front end of a 4500 lbs. truck with 14" of travel? The truck has it's own springs and the shock would be mounted in a 1:1 shock rod travel ratio. The truck currently has a pair of 14"smooth body 9100 res.

Re: Best Shock Choice
So it's a straight-axle truck? Depending on what you want to do with it, a set of bypass shocks and hydraulic bumpstops would be a good idea.

Ok, it has the bumpstops already. What diameter shocks and how many on each corner? Weight is critical.

Re: Best Shock Choice
A 3.0 three tube of your choice would be good. 1 per corner

You did say money no object, so I'd be looking for 4.0's or dual 3.0's. My reason being that you have a lot of unsprung weight to deal with. That means a lot of heat if you're really moving out.

My opinon is worth what you paid me for it.

I could not agree more. I would keep the valving light to spread the heat evenly between the two shocks. On long runs when a single shock would start to fade you will still be running strong.

Re: Best Shock Choice
Maybe just put some bypass tubes on your 2.5's? It might be nice to do it that way because you could put the tubes right where you need them for YOUR truck instead of the standard locations.
I think they guy everyone's chasing is running a single 3" 3-tube, maybe that's a good answer?

I think you meant to say that it's a 5500# truck, right?

I'm preparing for the ttb invasion. So how much travel are you getting in the front of your Bronco?
