Edelbrock Loading up in the rough

As the title explains need to remedy this embarrasing problem.
Any input is appreciated. (within reason)
Pump Back system had little if any effect.

Re: Edelbrock Loading up in the rough

If you are running a Performer series carb for off-road use, you need to install the "spring loaded needle and seat" kit from Edelbrock to keep the carb from flooding while you take it through the rough. It's Edelbrock part #1465.

.... make sure that you have a good quality filter to keep crap out of the needle and seat....Edelbrocks will clog up with microscopic pieces of dirt!!!! Edelbrock makes a low restriction filter, part #8135.

...and also, check that your fuel pressure is not set too high. The range is 4-9 psi but I don't like to run more than about 6-7 as the carb can flood.

Best thing to do is pull the air horn off of the carb, check your float settings, clean out the float bowls (clean them extremely well) and install the spring loaded needle and seat kit.

If you don't know, here's how to check the float settings....take off the top of the carb (the air horn). Invert the air horn, and place the gasket back onto it. Measure the float from the end to the top of the gasket. It should be 7/16"....if not, bend the float arm until it is. Now turn the air horn over and check the float drop....measure at the same points as the previous check...it should be close to 1 1/4".

    hope this info helps.......

    Second the regulator.
Extend the bowl vents up if at all possible.
