    Robby @ California

Hey guys just got back from the race and it was incredible. The result definetly does not demonstrate the effort shown by the crew nor the driver. Robby was running right around 20th during the first third or so of the race, cruising around the track keeping everything clean, not taking unnecessary risks basically. The first pit under caution his crew did real well, holding steady at 21. They also had some slow stops as well but that's not what killed his chances. He was trying to "stretch" his gas milage and didn't make it. I put strech in quotatons because for some reason, possibly a coincidence, the other DEI teams were getting an extra 2 laps on fuel. Anyways he lost two laps and beacause of it his chance at a top 15 or even top 10 finish was crushed. I was lucky enough to obtain a hot pass and watched the last 70 laps from Robby's pit. That is an incredible experience and I highly recommend it to anybody who recieves the opportunity to watch a race from the pits. Despite being two laps down both driver and crew fought hard to hold position over Joe Nemechek. Robby drove his heart out there at the end and it showed, holding par with the drivers in the top five; But still being courteous enough not to race against those on the lead lap, like Carl Edwars, who were still fighting for the win. Joe Nemecheck rallied his way back up to go door to door with Robby on the last lap. But he didn't have a car to compete with Robby's as Robby pulled away through turn four to take home the 26th spot, the best of all those 2 laps down. I then went with Bob after the race into the garage area who explained, and showed me, how Robby's car and track bar compared to others, an extremly informitive and eductional experience that I truely enjoyed. I wasn't able to catch any of you guys at the race, but would love to hear about what you all thought about it.

P.S. Anybody catch how NASCAR through the yellow for "debris" as soon as the 8 went a lap down in order to get his lap back? Just something to think about.

Thank you Reeve I really appreciate it. I forgot to mention another really neat thing, I was able to meet the Nephew of the Legendary Parnelli Jones; Paul Jones I believe was his name, a big time quarterhorse trainer. He tried to be really modest about it, like I may of never heard of him, LOL. Anyways I really appreciated your comment.

    Re: Robby @ California

I just got back myself. I rented the Track Scan thing with the color monitor and listend to Robby all day long. I heard him say as soon as the caution in favor of Jr came out "this is bull$hit, there's nothing back here..." He definetely seemed very frustrated after the gas thing, I went on a beer run and missed it, I didn't realize he had gone down that much until I got back. He had a good car but at least he survived and still has a shot at staying in the top 35 to secure a spot for the rest of the season.

That was me and the guys from my camp. That foam #7 was my template for the plywood #7 with lights around it that sits on top of the motorhome. It is big enough that at night you can see it from the grandstands. The reason we did the Trackside show is, We new Robby was going to be on it and the t.v network people told us we had to remove our plywood #7 from the top of our motor home before the cup race. They said it disrupts the coverage of the back stretch from the front stretch camera's. We did not remove it! So we figured we would get the #7 some t.v time some how. Robby was laughing his butt off when he saw what we did. At the commecial break Kenny Wallice and Jimmy Spencer were joking with us about the sign. Jimmy said it was the biggest F'ing sign he has ever seen on the show. Alot of people in the crowd with us were on there phone telling there friends that they were on t.v and they would say "No I right behine the big #7, What you cant see me? Lots of fun. I will post some pixs in a day or so.

I seen it, it was funny because it wasn't in one spot, it was going across the whole croud. Are you the same guys that had the big white banner mounted to the PVC in the fall race?
