Bronco electrical issues

I have a 1994 ford bronco that is a prerunner. it has the front traction beams that are 8 inches wider with kings and front caged and rear end done. when i drilled the wholes for the radious arms i hit two wires and cut them. That caused the speedometer not to work and the transmission jumped when it shifted. After I replaced the rearend it does it again.I was wondering if there is any wiring at all that plugs into the rear end that might cause this to happen.let me know if you know anything about this problem. thanks a lot.

If it an auto trans then ABS.

Wires are for the speed sensor in the rear end. If they are broken or you cange to a 9" your tranny goes whacky. There are several companys making tone ring relocator kits to put one on the output shaft of the TC.

Removing the ABS has no effect on the tranny.

Swaping in a c6 is also a fix

I had an issue with the rear bracks dragging and locking up after about an hour of driving when I first got my bronco. One time it got so bad that I when to the store and when I came out it was totally locked up. I had to take one rear tire off and beat the drum off to get the rear to release. Once I got home I pulled the anti lock controle modual off. I tig welded the fitting together and bent the fluid lines around so so they would connect. This didnt effect the trans or speedo and it fixed the dragging brakes.

Isn't the speed sensor on the rear axle used for the ABS system? Or do some trucks have more then one sensor on the rear axle?

The tone ring speed sensor in the rear end goes to the computer and is used for many
things including engine management, tranny control, ABS, dash displays (odometer).
Exact details are specific to models, years, options, etc.

You should not run the truck with it disabled unless you address some of these items.
You can use a stand alone tranny computer if you don't want to use a speed sensor.
Or you can put a speed sensor in the 9" or use another type of speed sensor but it
may require some electronics to translate and calibrate the signals. The electronic
overdrive trannys should not but run in the fail safe mode if you want them to last.

Best option IMHO, if you want to keep your tranny is to rig up the tone ring inside
the 9". Most fab shops and many diff shops can figure this out.

True that on the C6!

Your way to professional on the ABS removal. I just cut the non-standard flares off and re-flaired them with normal ones. 2 unions later the ABS hit the trash can where it belonged.

I had this problem when i installed my 9" on an F150. I went to Brea Auto Electric with the sensor from the 8.8, they have it all figured out. They sell/install VSS kits. Look in the December 05 of Dirtsports in the "Whats Next" section. call them they can explain it better.

thanks for the replys. i would love to get the new tranny but that is due later down the road for the project. I think i will get the spped sensor attatched to the TC. Hopefully that will fix it.

So does anyone have any pictres of the new speed sensor attached the TC? If anyone has spme pics please post them.
