    Re: Who's the fastest?

A lot of it is the ability to actually spend your life AS a racer. You get TO a level, then STAY at that level, throughout your career. Just like the world's best piano player is going to be a person who does it for a living, not some guy in another line of work. Now imagine if a mistake during a recital could cause you to hit a wall with your piano at 5 g's and put you in a coma. You would bring your VERY BEST game every time you showed up at a recital, wouldn't you? Even if you still ached from the last time you crashed. Even if you had jet lag from your last 10 hour recital in another country yesterday, where you set a pace that NOBODY could keep up with. Even if a team hires you midseason to replace another guy who was killed in the last recital. Even if the crew that keeps your piano together at 200 mph don't seem to take it as seriously as you do. I worked pit/fire for the CART race in Laguna Seca and asked to work with Walker Racing; (the Blue and white Valvoline car) during the final race of the season, where he was nowhere in the season points and had qualified 17th for this race, after which he was without a ride ( at least in CART).. In a situation where he could choose to play it safe and see what happens or risk it all and never be hired again he got to 12th place by the first turn, and just plain outdrove everyone else, all the way to 4th or 5th before the lap ended, (and he spun), but I guess he wanted to give notice to all the other team owners that there isn't anything he won't do for a win.

Are you serious? This comment shows how little you know. Amazing!

Robby may not win the most races, but he has been the fastest, for quite some time, hands down!
Early on I thought I wanted a career!
Turns out, I only wanted Paychecks!

Robby comes across to me as a guy that has alot of talent but drives foolishly. I think he is a Cinderella story of what a dad can do for a son when money isnt a factor and he supports the son 100%.

I think that if you took Bob out of the picture, know one would have ever heard of Robby. He would be just been another talented driver that never got a break.

    Just like many here.
    That's a bold statment!!!!!

And couldn't be farther from the truth!!!!

Now I'm no RG lover, in fact if you where to say my name to him you might get some colorful four letter descriptive words directed toward me.

But saying RG got where he is because of his dad, Bob, is not true at all. Ya, Bob is very supportive of his son. What father wouldn't be??? Bob simply gave Robby the tools and that only lasted a few races. After Robby won his first desert racer at the age of 17 or 18 in a class 2 car and then followed that up a week later with his first MTEG main event win in a class 10 car, He, Robby secuered personal services deals with BFG, then Ford and at the same time with Toyota. Not many people have ever been able to get two major factories to support them at the same time in the same form of motor racing.

Come on the guy does tend to shoot his mouth off a bit and he probably has more ememies then friend. But you can't denie him his success.

    BTW I voted for LR

I went to Parker this year just to spectate and with his perfomance RG was his own PR guy. I don't recall seeing a big nose or feet just some some flat hauling tail!

I understand if some people do not like Robby for whatever reasons. But, to say that he is not one of the fastest drivers in the desert, is just ignorant.

Also, anyone who thinks that Cameron Steele does not belong on this list has never ridden with him.
