Hey, i use a laser just like that at work. It's a Universal laser. It is great for etching anodized/painted parts. I also use it to cut out phoenelic, for a lot of the parts we make at work.
Hey Adam, are those sway bars hard-anodized. Does it matter/affect the finish or
clarity of the etching if it's a hard anodize. We've had some parts laser-etched
and they didn't come out so hot.

No they are type II. Good question. I have never tried to etch anything that is hard anodize. I just deal with type II in a wide range of colors. I believe that hard anodize builds up a thicker than type II. That will affect the etching process. Also hard Anodize is almost dry and ashy looking. That will be another factor. Sometimes when I am etching large quanities of parts for customers, I will see a varience in the plating thickness between parts and have to adjust power/speed to maintain a cosistent print. Instead of being bright white it will be saturated with the particular color it is anodized.
